I have my own way i do it just from testing and making changes and im sure there is things that i dont do that could make it better or different. anyway im open to try any ideas but here is the way i do it and i get really tasty and smelly bho from it that def. gets me blazed.

List of materials:

Extraction tube (I have two one will hold a gram and the other will hold an 1/8 both made of brass and very easily made just on the expensive side)

Zip tie

#4 premium coffee filter (premo filter is just thicker)

Bud

Butane (I use Vector)

Grinder

9" aluminum round baking pan to extract into (make sure it has a smooth flat bottom to scrape)

At least two razor blades (I use the ones that go into utility knives so there isnt any ridges and you can scrape it completely clean)

Large pot that is slightly bigger then the bottom of the baking pan (this will be used on stove to heat water under the baking pan)

Stove top either Electric or Natural Gas (I try and keep temp low enough where it is hot but wont burn me setting 3-4 on my burner)

91% Isopropyl Alcohol (for cleaning)

I made a extraction tube from brass pieces found at home depot and just put a piece of coffee filter on the one end held on with a zip tie/ wire tie.
I take some flower and grind it up in my grinder then fill the tube with the ground up bud. i pack it gently not tight and not loose. I then close the other end with the brass cap that i drilled a hole in just the size of the plastic adapters that come in the vector cans. I then use electrical tape on the joints where the caps screw on to the brass nipple just to keep the pressure from escaping out the joints. Now will take the Butane, 9" pan, and my filled extraction tube outside and just hold it over the pan while trying to keep a steady flow of butane through the tube. I usually just keep running it through till i dont see anymore oil coming out id say about 30 seconds max. (time is for my 1g tube it will be longer for a bigger tube). Once i am done extracting i will take my pan inside and throw some water in my pot on the stove on low heat and then throw my pan with the oil in the water and just let it sit for a few minutes. During this time i usually clean my razor blades with some 91% iso. I will then take my blade and keep popping the bubble and scraping back and fourth with just the point of the blade trying not to get much on the blade just enough to get the bubbles of butane out. You will see after about 10 mins there will not be any bubbles forming anymore. once i am satisfied that all of the butane is boiled out i will pull the pan out usually its hot enough to sting my hand a little but not burn i like keeping the heat low enough to where it doesnt burn me when i handle the pan with bare hands. then i will wipe off the water from the bottom and throw it in my freezer for about 3 mins it gets cold really fast im guessing because i do so little oil and it is an aluminum pan. I then get my pan out of the freezer and let sit at room temp for about 10 mins or else it will crack up like glass. Then i scrape it up with my blade as best as i can. Thats it all together it takes about 35 mins for me to make some BHO from bud to oil and smoking.
When i do my next run i will take pics of everything and each step

Spread your oil out thinner, don't purge so hot, don't grind your nugs up, in the second pic...why is all the tane in the middle?

I spread it out while im heating it that pic is just after i extracted it and it was bubbling on its own just sitting at room temp. Ive tried many different temps but i like the consistancy that my oil comes out at which is the difference i see from the temps. THC vaporizes at a much higher temp then i use id say im heating at about 120 degrees F but i never checked actual temp. It turns out like a taffy which is really nice to work with when dabbing.
Whats the reason behind not grinding up the bud it would be hard to fit in my small tube without grinding it.

I dont have any pics from when i was done heating except for when its on the blade but it def. dont look like pic 2 when i am done

Grinding buds adds more unwanted impurities. And do you put your extractor directly on the pan or something? Usually the bubbles are spread out over the whole dish so it purges better. Can't say much till you post a pic of the final product.

no i hold it off the pan it just stayed in a bubble like that i was like 2 inches above pan. The finished product is on the razor. Let me see what i can do about getting a pic of it on the pan when done.

Yeah I see now Unnk....don't you have some poop to clean up on the carpet? HAHA

OP...looking good. I would suggest a lower temperature purge to retain that golden color and not have it go so dark. The only thing I don't like is the angel hairs you get. I usually purge until it shatters when cool. But could just be the strain.

Nah man, can't say I have. Grew up with a half Labrador half Golden Retriever...best dog I'll probably ever have. Going on....15 or 16 years old, lost all hearing the past year.... :( So she has definitely caused me to go to work sad.

I can make it both ways but id rather it be soft enough to easily dab. All i do to make it easier to work with is re-heat it just enough to where is turns oily again and let it sit to cool to room temp and then its like a taffy and i can touch it with my dabber pull away like a 1/4 inch then just turn the dabber and it will wind around it and build up until i have the amount i want to dab. It doesnt change any effect from what i see it will still taste good and smell good and get me just as high when I re-heat. all depends on my mood really sometimes i leave it glass like sometimes i whip into a wax and sometimes i make it like taffy.

Not bad, but spraying for 30 sec for 1-3g seems a bit long. Think of the amount of butane to use as follows; 1oz buds= 300ml (1can) ~ 10g buds= 100ml. So if running 1-3g 1/5 of a 300ml can should be sufficient. Looking at your 2nd pic does not look like you are using as much butane as you say. Over spraying will increase your purge time if only using double boil method, and getting it all out in 30min would take a higher temp. Tighten that up and you will be shocked how far a can of tane will go, save you some bucks and trips to the store too.

The time was an approximate guess i go until im satisfied which is when i see clear liquid coming out and most of the butane boils off outside before i get it in the house and once in its mainly just oil that then goes on the stove and purged out from there. Also i learned with purging the more time you put into it the better the end result basically the less heat and longer time it takes the better. I just wait till there are no bubbles and the oil is transparent and i usually re-heat a second time after scraping it into a bigger pile and slowly work it out till its thin getting all of the bubbles out. I have also lowered my temps a little more and try keeping the heat where the oil is easily workable and thats all if i had to guess id say around 105-110 degrees F

grinding up the bud is better then not its easier for the tane to reach all trichs if your filter is good no material will come threw like two coffee filters. and butane boils off at 120, boiling water works best

ok if butane boils off at 120 and boiling is at what 212....you will degrade your thc imo........turbocivic u blow glass dont ya ;) ....i tried for a while hard art to master!!

I disagree. Grinding up buds destroys cell walls and allows the butane to extract more than just the cannabinoids. In other words, when you grind up your buds your are increasing your wax and oil and lipid content that gets into the final product.

120 is the temp that butane completely evaps. what else is there to extract? you want the oils from the plant thats the whole point of extracting, last time i checked lipids were not a bad thing, do even know what a lipid is?IMAG1366.jpgmaster.jpg this shit is full of lipids and im sure its better then yours
