Based on the visible induration and erythema I would definitely take a course of antibiotics and I do not believe in prophylactic antibiotics, except in rare circumstances and this is one of them. Also need to check and make sure the head was not left in there if she yanked it off.
Very important! It's not a big deal if the head is still in your skin, but you've gotta dig it out with a sterile needle or it will fester.

The stupid thing was I didn't even feel it or see it. The wife felt it as we were making the foam forest and initially thought it was a pimple. After we were sitting on the couch she remembered feeling something and then snapped the pic still not knowing what it was. She pulled it out Willy nilly, saw it move, freaked out, ran to the bathroom and flushed it down the toilet. So I couldn't positively identify it under my microscope. But I've pulled them off my parent's dog and this one was pretty small compared to those. I'm pretty confident it was a deer tick and I'm dying.
Nah man. You will be ok. I've had many a tick on me. Course I got an experimental Lyme disease vaccine.

My dad taught me never to pull a tick, but to use a penetrating oil. It suffocates them and they back out on their own. No head left in the wound, which is what you get when you yank'em.

I like to use mineral spirits. Quick clean kill. Then Neosporin.
only thing about the old oil trick is if the tick is feeding it will puke inside u as it pulls its head out,i like the old twezzer trick quick clean,i have been living with ticks my hole life really not a problem long as u no they r there most folks that get lyme have no idea about ticks

I just remembered one time I came out of some THICK brush after fishing.

Got home and had easily 20 ticks biting me. Most on my stomach!

Both dogs had 20-30 as well.

I had a pretty healthy fishing buzz on and that is the only reason I stayed calm. Grabbed the tweezers and went to work. :spew:
