Just Getting Started

I got to admit, the plants look pretty good, considering you are using 3 CFLs and miracle grow soil.
Good job!
:hump:
Thanks ProHuman! I am happy with how they look so far, considering it's my first attempt and all. It was suggested that I get these under some higher intensity light so I am currently looking for a 4-600 watt set-up that won't break the bank. I've been cruising craigslist as I don't have a lot in the budget currently. But I do hope to find something soon and hopefully that will help.

hell yeah . they exploded and tha critical is lookin tasty:blsmoke:how is the smell now?? mine is becoming problem with only a few pistils, you can smell it all through the basement any tips or tricks??
thanks Nube! Yeah it's amazing watching them grow right? My mouth starts to water when I visit these ladies and oogle their buds! They have been stinky for a few weeks now, but I love it! My place is pretty remote so I don't mind. I guess a filtration system would be in order otherwise, I hear the carbon unites are pretty inexpensive.

yeah im stumped, ill work with it tho, its crazy i open the door to the cupboard and a big wall of dank smacks me in the face , the older one is really becoming a hog though with my small setup its hard to disperse the light to the blueberry, so im guessing in a week or so ill put her outside . and how do you plan on deciding when to chop your plants do you have a scope to check the trichomes or are just going based on pistils?? ive read that they normally take a few weeks longer than the seedbanks claim and they can really put on some weight in that time, im lookin into like a 100x handheld microscope its like 20 bucks on amazon but i dont know yet... what ya think?

LOL on the stank slap!
i love it!
So what are you going to do about space? Making another cabinet? They will soon need to be on different light schedules anyway, no?
$20 doesn't sound bad.... I haven't thought that far ahead yet... I have an old antique lens that photographers used to use to check out negatives that I was going to try, I just have to find it first. Not sure what the magnification is so it may not work. I know I have a while to go yet anyway.

eh not sure yet i can raise the lights some but the bigger one will certainly stay spoiled plus its really rather squat, not too tall but is growing pretty fast , i might pick a nice sunny spot out back for the blueberry... and as far as the lighting schedule nope;// you can grow auto flowering plants 24/0 all the way to harvest they don't care about schedules. Im keeping mine 20/4 though because i believe they photosynthesize and what not in light and develope roots in dark but ive seen some monsters grown under 24 hours of light 7 days a week... it gives them more time to grow

im looking into it , ecspecially if i decide to go a little bigger and get a tent but with just my two plants in that cupboard i should be ok got a few candles that are doin ok at masking it. thanks for the advice tho man!

So here's a lighting question for you experienced growers....
Its been brought to my attention that perhaps my flourescent lights will not be adequate for my now budding plants. That they will probably peter out.....

I currently have 3 Auto's sitting under a 48" flourescent light fixture with 3 T8 bulbs and 2 clamp-on CFLs. The 3 FL bulbs are 2,000 Lumen, 2,700K each, the 2 clamp-ons are 32W, 1,600 Lumen, 5,000K each.

Ideally, i would love to add a 400-600 Watt HPS light set-up, this is my first grow and just cant swing that price tag right now. As an alternative I am looking at adding (4) CFLs, 105W (500W equivilent), 7,000 Lumen, 2,700K each. Will this do the trick? Is it adequate? Is there anything else i should consider or be aware of?

I haven't had good results trying to bloom with floros, I find them better suited for veg.
I used a 400w HPS, and I wish I would have spend the little bit extra and got the 600w.
As I been around grow threads, I think the 600w is a much better value.

I suggest you save some money, and get a good light for blooming. I am currently growing with a LED, but can not say from experience how well it will bloom yet, but HPS lamps are superb! There are threads with LED reviews, though, and many brands look promising to me.

Once you get a good bloom light, you can use your fluorescents for vegging, and keep a perpetual grow happening.

I will also add that bigger lights means more heat, too.
So you may have to upgrade your ventilation system, if it's not good enough to handle the higher temps.

Thanks ProHuman!
I do plan on going the HPS eventually... just didnt want to bite that bullet quite yet. My plants are going on 9 weeks old now, they have already started to flower so I know time is of the essence. I thought perhaps i could get away with CFLs, even if it wasnt optimum, but as a something that could work until i can swing the price tag of HPS. But it is sounding like i need to find a way to make HPS lights happen.

I am looking forward to the heat these HPS lights give off as a good thing as i currently have to have heat bulbs on the plants to keep the temps above 60.

You can still grow decent buds with CFLs, don't get me wrong.
I seen some nice results on the threads, but nothing like the big boy lights.
Good Luck
:peace:

image.jpg So a lot has happened here in the week or so of RollItUp silence.... Most notably I picked up a grow light from craigslist.
I wound up bringing home a 600w iPower with a cool tube that can accept a 6 inch fan on each end BUT, the ballast was a dud. I brought it back to the guy and swapped it out for a working 400w HPS.
See pic below....

Clone update....

I lost one of the clones last week but am still 3 for 4 so far. Can see a root coming out the bottom of one pot so I am hopefully. It's been 2 weeks since they were snipped, hormoned and poked in soil. I still don't have them under lights yet, I am thinking next week. They are currently next to a window getting minimal indirect light. I did wind up bagging them again after the first died.

Cut 5 more clones today. Want to experiment with moving some outside next month.

how much you end up dropping on that light?? im very excited for you with hps you will have a noticably bigger yeild and alot more light coverage, maybe if you can try to fit one of your photoperiod plants under there with them or after the critical finishes itwill love it. It gets pretty hot though right?? Will you end up putting a fan on that thing? Definately show me some closer pics of the buds lol that pics a tease;// what is the one far right?? nice job with the clones to definately can consider that a win if you only lost one your first try. when yours started flowering how soon before all the areas spitting out pistils started to look like buds?? check out my little lady:) shes growin up lol i cant wait to smoke her ; p am i a bad parent ?

The Brainstorm is getting big.... About 30" tall and probably about as wide. Seems real spindley and sparse especially compared to how full the Cali hash is.image.jpg
Wondering if I should prune this thing?

Nube!
I dropped $150 on the ballast, bulb and cool tube. Thought I was a getting a 600w but it didn't work. Went back to the seller who only had a 400w left so he threw in (6) 30 gallon pots. I spent so much time cruising craigslist I was just happy to have a working light.

I moved all the plants to the basement so was hoping this light would give off more heat than it does. I have to keep a heat bulb on just to keep the temp in the high 60s. I'm considering looking for a regular hood and swapping out the cool tube.

On the pic above the Crit Auto is on the left. The 2 NYC Diesel Autos are on the right. The small one in the middle is what I have been spraying the colloidal silver on for the last 3 weeks. Doesn't seem to be working for me.
