Jack's Professional Fertilizer

I've been thinking about this for a while and it has recently come up so I thought I'd start a new thread.

There are a number of expensive hydroponic fertilizers on the market and while the old "you get what you pay for" often holds true, this might not be one of those times.

See, plant nutrition has been around for a long time prior to people growing weed indoors. Companies that have been producing well known fertilizers have also been around for a long time. They have spent many years doing R&D and they also have the money to do more of it than the smaller boutique type companies.

One of the most respected brands long used in large scale nurseries is "Peters" made by J.R. Peters. I promise you from experience that even their all purpose 20-20-20 works exceptionally well. In fact, probably better than the Ionic I have been using.

Anyway, it seems they have a whole line of professional fertilizers including one specifically made for hydroponics. Below is a list of their products.

I for one will be switching to this brand - now to figure out the perfect N-P-K levels.

Excellent information.
I have been using Jack's Classic ferts for many years now. I am extremely happy with the results I obtain. My plants and I love this stuff!
I was unaware of this line of Jack's Professional products.
Very impressive lineup.

Rick do you know if the Professional series is available in less than 25lb size?

Yes, it seems that you can only get it in 25 lb bags and.. wow.. over 60 different products.. all of them fertilizers.. that's more than Advanced Nutrients line.. I bet it's even more then Grotek.. and they make Cotton food.. lol

If you get the triple 20 then be careful.

From the link above:
The general-purpose industry standard, 20-20-20 is great for maintaining plants in garden center and growing facilities. It provides fast green-up and great foliar expansion due to the high percentage of ammonium and urea nitrogen plus balanced phosphorus and potassium for excellent root and shoot growth.

That also means it can burn easily.

One of the most popular formulations, 20-10-20 GP has the traditional micronutrient levels needed for general production including propagation and all types of bedding plants. High nitrate nitrogen levels (60% of the total) provides for green foliage and more compact growth.

Where as I think this will not burn your plants so readily.

Looks like this place carries it. http://www.waldoinc.com/index.htm

I'm going to buy this Monday if I get time. Perhaps I will sell a few 1lb bags on Craig's List.

This thread really interests me because I totally agree with what you say about professional "legitimate" growers. They too want the brightest flowers, biggest buds and tastest fruit.

So, how has your grow been going using Jacks?

Cheers, YGB

I just started using the Peters Professional Hydro (5-11-26)

For fans of fatman7574, you should know that the n-p-k ratio produced by adding Calcium Nitrate to the Peters is close to 3-1-4.

on the pro website is a link to thier lab site (where you can have your water and soil tested, and they will specialy formulate a nute just for you based on the test) on that site is a link called library and there is a pdf about 3 things to know to prevent fert problems, it is full of great info

I just emailed them a few days ago asking if I could get a sample of thier K-Trate as I am looking for a 2-1-3 for flowering

will let you know if I hear from em???

just switched to jacks from earth juice line up. Im still in Veg on this crop but plants are happy and look great. Also easier than mixing up all those different products.

ive been using jacks orchid bloom(30-10-10) and bloom booster(10-30-20). ive been doing 1/4tsp per gal of orchid, AND 1/8tsp per gal bloom. so basically i use half as much bloom as i use orchid. this helped me balance out the npk, since the orchid has such high N. the girls are a beautiful green and growing good. so far, im loving these nutes. i paid a total of about 10 bucks for both of them

I have been using the Jack's Classic dynamic duo, which is the all purpose in veg, and blossom booster + all purpose, in flower. Never burned my plants with this stuff, either, they love it.

Peters Professional Hydroponic Special (available in the USA only). 5-11-26

http://petersabc.com/PDFs/Peters Pro/99310ppro5-11-26.pdf

+ Yara Liva Calcium Nitrate 15-0-0-19.5

http://www.yara.us/fertilizer/products/yaraliva/calcinit.aspx

+ Epsom Salts

Or Jacks Professional Hydroponic 5-12-26 + Calcium Nitrate

http://www.jacksprofessional.com/products.pdf

The Jacks has double the Magnesium that the Peters has, so no need for added Epsom Salts with it.

Hydro. growers can probably save 75% on fertilizer costs using these products over bottled liquids.

three more very inexpensive options

5-10-25 Hydroponic Formula from Verti-Gro

CropKing sells a 4.5-14-34 product called Hydro-Gro, as well as single fertilizer items for mixing your own from scratch.
Thanks for the links! I was looking at Jack's hydro + Cal Nit originally, but couldn't find anywhere to easily order it online. I was almost tempted to order Jack's Classic Duo even though it apparently wasn't ideal for hydro, just because it was more readily available.. I've been going insane trying to find something exactly like these.

No more getting ripped off on overpriced, excessively colorful, and oddly named bottles of bullshit for me!

Also, have you or anyone else here actually used any of these, and be able to provide some feedback? I can't seem to find a list or a clear picture of the guaranteed analysis to see what the other ratios are.. The Verti-Gro I could at least zoom in on the label and counted 12 nutrients, so at least it's complete? haha.. The Hydro-Gro I could only make out 10 on their 'A' when I zoomed in, though.. Guessing they left Calcium out, but it'd still be missing one..? The 3rd link it's listed right on the front page, but I don't need to order in that much bulk lol..

Rawrrrz, I am using the Peters + Calcinit + Epsom salts in a coco drain to waste grow at a total EC of 1.2 with intense lighting. No deficiencies, no toxicities, no problems.

My next buy is something to replace the bottles of Pro-Tekt and other silicon products. Hydro-gardens.com has 1 gallon of Potassium Silicate for $19.00 @ 26.5% Silicon content....What a steal!

Here's a source for the Peters hydro special:

http://www.griffins.com/

Maybe one of those locations is near you?

This link has full analysis + mixing directions for the Peters:

http://petersabc.com/PDFs/Peters P...pro5-11-26.pdf

For the other brands, you might have to contact the manufacturer.

Thanks for the feedback, now I'd be sold if I could only find a decent supplier. That place wants me to print, fill out, and send in a form to register my account before I can log in to place an order? Seriously, could they make it any less convenient for new customers? I'm under the impression that if I can't easily and conveniently order a product, they want me to take my order elsewhere. The Verti-Gro and Hydro-Gro were both easy to just throw in a cart and order on those sites, but I'm still short the analysis'. Neither accept American Express though, and the Hydro-Gro even has the nuts to charge you a $5 'Low Order Fee' on their largest combo nute package available.

So far Verti-Gro is about to get my order just because they let you conveniently order online, accept the most credit cards (MC, Visa, Discover), no bullshit 'low order fee', and it's a good deal with the free shipping. "Verti-Gro, Inc. is in the process of securing an internet-based merchant services provider to handle the secure online payments in real time. In the mean time, our credit card payments are handled manually." So, they're at least planning to improve it in the future as well..

Guess I'll see what sorts of contact options I have to see if I can get that analysis. I'll post the results up if I find anything, in case anyone else is curious.

You have to understand Griffin's is a wholesale distributor. So that form is for other small businesses with multiple employees that will be using multiple invoices, etc.

Call up and they'll probably only ask for basic info. over the phone. I'm sure it's easy. I walked into of the locations for the first time and paid cash without giving any personal information, without setting up an account.
