So...the US (who basically got that ball rolling, and actually harbored (and possibly trained) the leaders of the resistance) had nothing to do with it?

France used more military than the USA. Therefore like all you ignorant Europeans , I claim France is just trying to put a puppet in charge of Libya to get free oil

I am well aware of the french and UK effort in Libya...I have seen some bad ass vids of RAF fighters laying waste to targets. It was pretty much the Navy that really held that fort down on the US front, and paved the way for the rest of forces to get their boats into the mediterranean. Fact remains, the leader of the opposition (initially at least) was living in virginia, and returned to Libya clandestinely and boom, you have a civil war underway. That's why I am opposing the viewpoint of the OP that gave absolutely no reference to these critical initial steps.

Libya has oil, yes. But, in reality Gaddafi was begging for it, for years. He was basically trying to screw over the same people that were essentially permitting him to be in office anyway. Other than the oil, there is no other reason for any other country to have any business with Libya in the first place - and Gaddafi was going to fuck that up, even.

And that amount of munitions isn't really that great...and it didnt even really cost that much. Frankly, it's about time Europe got off of it's ass and did something to protect its own interests.
