Is the ViparSpectra Reflector-Series 300W LED Decent?

Viparspectra 300w is the best light ever made. It gives off 106x more lumens than a 1000w HPS and only takes 4 days to complete flowering from seed! Also no need to water your plants when using a viparspectra.
I read it somewhere, so it's true.

(Just thought I'd add the vast quantities of knowledge I've read on this thread so far haha :-) )
I knew that ,,,

I however, would be open to suggestions on other lights if I could get better results. I mean why not. Atleast in the same price range. What else is out there for 140 to 180 that is decent. I have 2 450 viparspectra but need to buy another light. I'm open to putting different lights in my room.

After finding out two Vero29Cs @ 140W outperform a Viparspectra panel consuming 418W I bought two light engines from TastyLED (awesome customer service by the way).

I've heard of cobs and know they are the way to go but know nothing on them. Where's a good place to start? Any kits?

www.TastyLED.com

They have kits, completes and parts. E-mail Kevin at Tasty, he answered all of my questions, offered solutions and even helped me pick out what I wanted for my space, if only I could fit the T-22 with what I'm doing... it is a great fixture and in my opinion has potential to be driven harder since it is actively air-cooled.

Thanks for the info. Will be going over it. Really want something decent to give me decent results in my 6x6 shed. I have 2 450w vipars and I know I need to ad more.

You should also look at Timber, they have setups with frames for light engines.

Timber is a bit pricey, but they do offer well built fixtures.

I had to register for an account after reading this thread. I have a Viparspectre 300w and it does absolutely nothing but look pretty. I lost some expensive seeds trying this unit. Live and learn I guess. It looks like it is putting out tons of light but has no effect on your plants what so ever. Learn from my mistake.

I used a 450w vipar and did decent with it in my 2x2 tent. So can't really talk bad about it but I know there's better lights which I bought 2 cob kits.
2 cobs at 150w and 4cobs to get 200w max. Will dim it and start at half.

I'm looking in to Cobs right now. I had better luck with cfl's than I did with the viparspectre.

Dated old thread but idc. I wish I never bought this pos vipraspectra 300w light. There's no way this beats my T5s. Slow growth. Small growth. I grow monster scrogs that start out with my T5s. I now stuffed that 300w back with my HPS to work as 'extra support lighting'. Can't win with that thing... can't bring it too close (so fuck your seedlings) and you can't bring it too far (or you'll stretch em). Not so with T5s.

Save your money and buy a T5 kit. You will get faster growth, cooler conditions, and with the new bulbs out (see hortilux), you will get a beautiful spectrum.

There is nfw that LED can outperform an HPS on a watt/watt scale.

Also note (can see in the first grow posted by OP) there's bunk vipraspectra lights going around. You can tell with the ROHS certification which is spelled ROSH (no such thing). Sorry knockoffs, that's what you get for buying shit lights.

I disagree. I bought one of those viparspectra 300w LEDs a couple years ago, and It worked so much better than I imagined it would.

You should've made your lights like I did and yes my lights beat HPS watt for watt

I have it supplementing my HPS atm. I'm not going to lie, its helping out a lot.

The COB looks very nice, but entry fee is prohibitive compared to a T5 cluster (4 or 8 bulbs). It really depends on the size of the grow. If I would to start all over, I probably would stick with T5s for seedlings and veg, but instead of HPS, I would move to COB tech.

I did get near a lbs of good exodus kush 'vegging' with T5s *edit* from that plant.
