Is solis tek still the best ballast?

So I am going to start ordering everything I need for my new grow in a few weeks and am pretty set on the solis tek 1000w ballast. I know they have been considered one of the best ballasts on the market but is there something new out that is better? I will be going with a 5x5 Apollo or vivosun tent, 8" can max fan pro, 8" can lite filter. I plan on doing a 4-5 plant scrog in 5 gal pots in promix, not sure what nutes I will go with this time. I like the Solistek because of the built in timer and that it will let me run a 600 or 1000 watt bulb, as well as the electrical safety checks it does before firing the bulb. Does anybody have experience with something they think is better? Thanks for any input

it is a toss up really .....in the Dail a watt SE/DE ballast

but they have the best bulbs i think the lumen rating is higher and they were the first ones i sawl with a 10k uvb light

Yea I was looking into the galaxy but they have some pretty bad reviews on amazon due to the ballast failing very quickly. thanks though:)

Does anybody have Experience with the Apollo purple reign? The reviews look good and it will take a 400,600 or 1000 watt bulb.

Purple reign works good just hope you don't have to call Apollo for warranty or anything because the customer service sucks

Yea I wish they sold them in stores so I have an actual place to take it back to if there's a problem. I think I'll go with solis tek and buy it from a local store rather than online incase there's any problems

Phantom 2's if your trying to push it 600 750 1000 1100. Runs bulbs down faster but still just replace every 6 months for sure

Not bad at all both are good for running hps I just have original phantoms that are like 3-4 years old and brand new phantom 2's because those ones are still killing it and never a single issue

There's a lot of good options for ballasts , you probably gonna find bad reviews on every single one if you look enough up, i was in the grow store today and i saw a lot of returns in there, ballasts kinda got a high failure rate even the good ones. Just make sure when you buy one you get it from a place you trust so you can bring it back if it doesnt work, they usually die quickly if they gonna go from my experience at least with 1 ballast that blew on me, it was a quantum ballast , i wouldnt recommend them.

Yup I worked with 315 phantom ballast for a year all 3 years old at the time.....replaced prob 4 whole time I was there in 9 months 7 flower rooms 45 ballasts a room well and 3 flower rooms with 21 each

Yea It will be a little more expensive to buy one in store but if there's a problem it will be worth it to be able to take it back. my favorite shop in sf closed down, and I'm in vallejo now so I will have to find a new spot.

I did run a quantum for about 4 months without any problems before I sold it, but that's not really enough time to tell if it will last for the long haul.
