Is my space big enough?

Hello,

I am entertaining the idea of a first time grow. This is my first post since my introduction a week or two ago, as I have been tirelessly reading everything I possibly can about my options.

My intended grow space is a small storage closet. I have already worked out plans for ventilation, cooling, and odor control. It is extremely dark when it needs to be, and a lovely little stealth spot, but I am afraid it is too small.
The dementions are 33"/65"/45" approx., with 45" being the height. I am a bit worried that this would not be quite tall enough to grow comfortable, healthy plants. When I consider the height of the pots, and the amount of space to accommodate a light (I was thinking I would probably go with a 600W HPS, giving my unborn babies enough lumens to keep them healthy), I feel like I will have precious little grow space.

If I grow small indica plants, will this be enough room for success? I read quite a bit about tying down, or creative use of chicken wire, but I don't want to get 2 months into this and find out that I have uncontrollable growth, and watch my beautiful young daughters go the way of Icarus. Any suggestions on technique or strain would be greatly appreciated, but for the record, I would rather not grow Lowryder. It does not seem to be as rewarding grow on any level. Oh, and importantly, is it a workable space?

I offer many thanks in advance,
S-town

quick reply, that space will work if you keep em small, i dont have experience with it myself but id guess that a 600W would be way too hot in the space, stick to CFLs.

Thank you for the reply. I would be willing to absolutely go above and beyond with ventilation, and am not tied down to a terribly small budget. Am I going to get the same results with CFLs? I want to grow short, bushy, and very productive plants, and don't want to go through the effort of setting up an elaborate grow to be disappointed 4 months later. From much of what I have read, it will be incredibly difficult for me to get the lumens that I would like to have with CFLs; as with a quick search, I can't find any that will shoot me over 10,000 easily. Could I run an air cooled 400 or 600 MH/HPS in a small space such as this, with a 4-6 inch exhaust duct running out the door?
If it costs a little more money, and a little bit more effort, I am not afraid to do it, as I really don't want to half ass this. If I go forward with a grow, I am doing everything I can to make it count.

Thanks again,

I am running 8 cfl's @ 1600 lumens each in a grow box and all is well so far. 16 days into flower.

As an update here, I finally got it all set up. I went with a 400W HPS with a cooltube running 6" ducting out the door with a 250cfm inline fan. I have it all set up now, and am just waiting for my Feminized Great White Shark (Green House Seed Co. Via Dr. Chronic). I ran my light for about 5 hours yesterday to monitor my temps. They temperature peaked out at about 79.2 F on my digital thermometer. I placed the thermometer in a place where I could see it through a tiny crack in the door, so I wasn't opening it up and letting all the excess heat out. As soon as I get my seeds, I will start up a Grow Journal and post up some pics. Wish me luck, as I am going to have to LST like a champ! I only have about 38" from bottom to top. Thanks for your help, everyone.
