Is my seedling dead?

hi I just started growing and I think I may have overwatered my plant. It looked nice the first day but then I got worried and think I may have over watered the plant. I also feed it plant food from miracle growth. As I did more research I learned I shouldn’t have... based on the pictures does it look dead? It also looks like the lights I have burned the stem of the seedling.

It doesn't look promising. If there is root exposed, cover it back up carefully. One of the pictures may show that it's a bit bright, at least for a seedling. I'd make sure it's covered up quickly and hope it recovers.

Looks dead,
Too much wrong here to bother with.
Aluminum foil is no good.

Soil looks soaked

You more than likely killed it with food.

My recommendation is get more seed
And hit youtube.

There are tons of beginners grow vids.

Watch a lot of them start to finish before you start. None of them are the best but by checking out a few you will start to see what is required
You can also read books and post specific questions here.

No reason you cant grow you just need a good overview to get started.

I just covered it up a little with some fresh soil and removed 2 out of the 6 light bulbs hopefully I can get some luck. I won’t water it anymore and I’ll keep it in this overnight. Next grow will be better. Thank you.

Yeah the whole setup was bad my next grow will be better thank you !

I had a similar issue recently which I think was damping off from overwatering. I tried everything I could and the 2 that showed symptoms never recovered and ended up getting pulled after about 5 days of effort. The other two germd at the same time are going strong now. Id say get ready to start again sadly and be careful with watering. Read, read, read. There is a million opinions of how to do everything, find out the the reasons behind each way of doing it and come up with what you think is best. Im on my first every grow and it seems I've had almost every problem I could, that being said once they are established they are a lot easier to recover when things go wrong.

When you start a seed, just use pH adjusted water. You don't need to start feeding until it tells you it's hungry! I don't know how many times I've had to repeat this on this forum.. The first set of leafs that appear are the cotyledons, they are like baby food left there from the plant that made the seed. Imagine that once your plant has grown a little root system and a couple of sets of true (jagged) leafs it is entering the toddler phase. When it runs out of baby food you'll see the cotyledons begin to yellow and whither, this is the first sign of a nitrogen deficiency. Feed your toddler a toddler sized dose of nutrients (like 1/8-1/4 strength of what the bottle recommends), then you start to figure out whether or not to give it straight water or plant food, and how much depending on how your plant reacted to the last feeding. That's why it's best to keep notes of the last time you fed it and how much you gave it.

No matter what, the idea in both soil and soilless mediums is to just make sure the root zone doesn't dry out. The root zone starts about 2-3 inches below the surface. I don't think overwatering killed your plant. You fried it with your aluminum foil and your jumping the gun on feeding.
