Is my nute water supposed to look like this?

First time. In all the hours of research I have done I haven't seen discussions about nutrient water color and or film deposits. Please take a look at the pics and tell me if this is normal. The color didn't alarm me but the film on the pump, and I assume other parts in the system, makes me question my water. I cant imagine it's algae already. It is RO water, 500 PPM Cal Mag, 500ppm GH three part. It's been running for 3 days. I have already stressed my plants twice from pulling noob shit and I just got them healthy again.

I know I washed the vast majority of it but I had to buy a bag to complete the last 2 sites and I honestly don't remember if I washed that last 10 liter bag. Also I'm not sure how well the original ones were washed because for as long as I kept rinsing them there was still some runoff

Looks like to me, shouldn't really hurt the plant but could cause some damage to the pump if it doesn't have a filter on it . Have a friend who didn't wash his , left everything pretty dirty lol

Yeah, the more I look at it I think you're probably right. It definitely seems to be collecting near the bottom of the res like sediment. I think I'll leave it be for now, throw the filter on the pump and do a early res change in a few days just in case. Thanks for the input.

^ that lol

Also most pumps come apart pretty easy to clean if its just a mag pump.

Just put cheese cloth around the pump and secure with a rubber band and call it a day :)

5 mil per gallon X 32 gallons in the system gave me 500 PPM in my RO water. I thought it was high too but everything I referenced confirmed the dosing rate of 5 ml per gallon in RO water and nothing about ppm's so I went with it. Did the math twice and poured once. I drained my res to confirm the clay issue and to clean it up. I left the sites full so I have 70% of the original nutrient mix still in the , should I transfer just pH water into the rez or the nutrient mix I transferred out? Or flush the whole system and start over?

I am fairly proficient at Learning and self-educating but s***, this is definitely harder than I thought it was going to be. Hopefully that means success will be that much more gratifying if I ever get there
