Is eating more effective medicinally than smoking or vaping?

I've been doing a lot of research on the internet about the medicinal benefits of Cannabis.
I myself am a legal patient who prefers to do Dabs and smoke my medicine. However, in doing my research, it seems that people such as Rick Simpson believe that consuming is more medicinal than smoking or vaping. Is that true? My thinking is that if I am feeling the effects when I dab, then that means that THC is in my body, so why wouldn't I be getting the medical benefits of the THC when I smoke? Is there any science that shows that consuming is more medicinal than smoking or vaping? I don't mean for pain relief, but for controlling or curing ailments such as cancer.

I use to smoke like crazy, then I found dabs, then I dab like crazy, then I perfected my coconut oil recipe, now I eat edibles like crazy. Too say one has more effects then the other is just non-sense. However there is a threshold on how much you can smoke and still get high, while edibles you can keep getting higher and higher. I even almost OD'ed because I ate way too much. It's pretty nasty when you eat to much, I broke out in a fever and felt like glass was my in my skin, and sand running through my veins. My vision was like snow on a TV screen and my brain was not working, I couldn't walk or do shit. I seriously almost called a ambulance that night. But I slept it off and was fine the next day..
