is dabbing vaporizing or smoking?

Brothers- it's Friday and I love you all!!

I hope you all have some choice smoke, regardless of how ingested. I hope the weather's great and you have memorable weekends - all of you

There's no question in my mind that if we were all together we would all be toking and laughing. The Internet really doesn't encourage brotherhood, but face-to-face interaction surely does.
The internet can be what we choose to make of it, but your point is well taken that some demonstrate behavior and say thing through the anonymity of the internet, that they wouldn't face to face. It comes with freedom of speech, but says more about the perpetrator than the victim.

It also highlights how important it is that we vet everything for ourselves, because as Will Rogers observed, "The world is of folks that are damn sure of things that ain't so."

One common cause for conflict, is losing track of the decimal point. Even truth becomes more like debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, once the zeroes between the decimal place and the first whole number mount up.

Just about every engineering text on the planet. Is that good enough for you, or do you feel the need to reinvent the rest of the laws of physics, too?
Do I take you have reviewed every engineering text on the planet and can make that statement truthfully, or are you avoiding presenting actual evidence with bluster.

Please pick one respected engineering text that supports your position and share it, or we will have to infer that you have no such evidence.

So you're lazy AND stupid? Do your own homework, fool. The rest of us are busy.

Fire needs three things, as every Cub Scout knows;
1. Heat, above 500f, or the ignition temperature of the target material*
2. Air
3. Fuel

Notice 'open flame' is not on the list.

*Ray Bradbury wrote a great book about censorship, and used the ignition temperature of paper as the title; 'Fahrenheit 451'

I rest my case regarding behavior saying more about the perpetrator than the victim.

That I'm neither lazy nor stupid is a matter of public record at my age, so take your best shot.

Besides being a top manufacturing engineering program manager for the leading Fortune 500 company in their field, for most of my professional career, I'm guessing I was probably tutoring science and math GED students about the time you were weaned.

You don't speak for anyone but yourself, so the us is either a very small circle of friends or a fig newton of your imagination.

Clearly you have no such information, or you wouldn't be avoiding presenting it to make me look as stupid as you choose to call me.

And apparently your degree only exists on paper, or you wouldn't be arguing such a basic concept. It's okay, engineers who can't think are plenty common enough. Lord knows I've met plenty.

Well a Cub Scout education certainly does better explain your grasps of physics and lack of social graces.

I do note heat above the ignition temperature of the target material on your list and note how far you are trying to take this argument from the central point that dabbing is not combusting the oil, it is turning it into a vapor.

That is what you need to prove, not that you passed your Cub Scout merit badge in fire starting.

Nowhere in here is there any refutation of the Cub Scout list of fire requirements.

You do spew bullshit like you've been in a Fortune 500 company all your life, I'll give you that.

Vaping = inhaling volatile fractions of the substance while heating it BELOW the point of combustion.

Smoking = inhaling combustion products of a substance while heating it ABOVE the point of combustion.

How cherry red hot do you get your dab rig with a BLOWTORCH again?

Debate over.
Not everyone does high temp dabs. Not everyone uses torches. I do low temp with an enail. The surface of my nail stays at close to 450*F.

My professional performance prior to my retirement a decade ago speaks for itself, and as I noted is a matter of public record. Nothing you can say will change that, and only makes you look more adolescent grasping for straws.

All that continues to come out of your mouth is further evidence that your ego exceeds your intelligence, so my half of this conversation is over.

Those with ears have received my message and everyone is free to do with it as they please.

Then it's vaping.

If the nail is red hot, it's combustion.

The point was raised that there is no flame- but conditions for open flame are different and generally more restrictive than those for combustion. Oxidation is a loose synonym for combustion, some might prefer that term.

I think that was a miscommunication. I think he was meaning as in a flame as by product. Since a flame is generated in combustion after ignition prior to your fuel, buds or concentrate, being consumed. That's how I took it anyways. Ugh ugh. Lol

A key central point. Few folks in this neck of the woods dab a red hot nail, though they do heat them to red to gauge starting temperature, or even hotter to burn them off.

They typically wait until it is well sub red below dabbing, and most of my circle uses an electronic nail set far below red temperatures.

A basic law of physics that continues to be passed over, is that you can't heat the oil past its boiling point at atmospheric pressure, and the vapors produced are what ignites if raised above their ignition temperature.

hes an idiot. 1 lb of material takes 16~ cans. requires you to buy 2 dozen at 6$ a can @ 72$ a dozen is 144$. no deals at my bong store.

there is a reason yeti doesnt post here anymore... his latest thread basically had everyone repeating what I said, except nicer, made him look quite stupid.
Everytime i even began to read one of your posts i wanted to kill myself. Jeez. Speaking of unpleasant people. Your ego projection is phenomenal, you should get your ego tested and see if it is human. I hope someone smashes it like an egg one day.
That is all.

my wife is pregnant and she hasnt been smoking since we found out...shes medicated maybe 3 times just to stop from throwing up cause of nausea... incase it gets worse before it gets better,
I wanted to see if i should get a real vaporizer for her, if/when she needs to medicate or if doing a nail hit under low temp(not red hot) is the same...

I would rather her smoke concentrates I make cause I know their purity, and a concentrate rather than bud cause of the amount of smoke the plant matter makes.... i know bho contains LEFTOVER PETROLEUM,, is that enough to harm baby?

im thinking of making her a solvent less extract to dab or vaporize
?

any thoughts or suggestions appreciated...

i know any type of smoke is horrible for the baby so id thought id get some more qualified peoples advice.... since i cant exactly discuss this with the government and have them not judge/arrest me...
To the OP, i couldn't get very far in this forum before i realized most people were arguing instead of answering your question. Just buy a good old fashioned vaporizer. Volcano or Silver surfer or Da Buddha. They use regular herb, so its not too intense... dabs are too intense i think for a pregnant woman.
I use my vape all the time :) Got like a whole half gallon jug filled with AVB, already vaped bud, gonna use it for edibles!

I dunno...

I have tried dabbing on a nail/bowl that is not red hot. Doesnt work very well at all. Its a pain in the ass and it tastes like shit. Hard on the throat too. Thats why the vast majority dont bother and heat it to red hot...

Two words. Carb cap. Not a pain. Low temp dabs also taste amazing and way more smooth. Everything you said is actually backwards. You sure you have really tried it?

To your point, I find lower temperature dabs tastier and smoother as well, and do use a carb cap to scavenge the last of the puddle, as do virtually all of my associates.

I dab with a fair number of brothers and sisters, and have judged at High Times and IC Mag concentrates cups, yet know absolutely zero that dab red hot nails.

Sadly, one of the insidious problems with incompetence and ignorance, is the more incompetent and ignorant we are on a given subject, the less aware we are of our incompetence.

That may be the product you are getting and not temp. Lower temperature dabs taste much better. Bad taste and sire throat usually comes from crappy oil Imho

Woe this thread sure turned fast! I kind of see where the vacpurge was coming from, and where the OP was coming from (in 2013). I mean it's kind of a given that people in our society are going to be appalled at the thought of dabbing concentrates for an unborn child. Although personally I don't believe a small amount of marijuana will actually impede on the growth of the fetus, I sure would not recommend experimenting. Try to coax pregnant women to use other alternatives for nausea, I'm sure there must be something other than weed that pregnant women can benefit from.
