will they be able to trace my IP address and bust me for asking grow questions or come to my house and search for plants

In this economy I feel like cops everywhere are realizing that money spent toward investigating grow ops is just throwing money away. It's a lost cause and nobody in their right mind is going to spend a shitload of money to trace a bunch of random IP addresses in hopes of busting a few big grow ops in order to put a bunch of innocent people in jail on taxpayer expense. Violent crime is on the rise everywhere so I'm pretty sure cops have bigger fish to fry than a dude trying to grow a couple of pot plants in his closet. I could be wrong though so if you're paranoid use one of those proxy servers.

There is no publicly accessible area on this website that has any IP address information displayed on it. You do not need to worry...

Just don't give out personally identifiable information about yourself or location.

As long as you dont have a Huge Grow opp right next to a public school, they probably have bigger fish to fry. I would not worry About anyone tracking your ip. Just Mind Growtech's words and keep your private information your own.

thanks bros, it's just that this is my first grow and i don't want anything to ruin the experience. i come home home from work and kiss my wife and kids and then go out and hang with my plants. they're starting to grow on me, you know what i mean.

yeah 9 times out of 10 the grower is what ends up ruining the experience, by talking to people about his/her op... best to keep that a secret from your kids, and possibly even a wife if she runs her mouth a lot... best wishes.

The police would have to get a warrant to get the ip address from the server anyways. Its not like they have magical power over the internet and can see all/ control all.

are you kidding me? you think the only way to track ip addresses is through this server?? look around online, major telecommunication companies GIVE the NSA a copy of ALL traffic. WE DONT KNOW WHAT THEY"RE DOING WITH IT!!! ITS BUSH'S LITTLE SECRET. I gaurantee you, they could write a program that harvests data from this site and puts us all in a database, it is effortless for them to collect your name and personal info by cross referencing this with your other web data. THIS IS NEW! they werent doing this 10 years ago because its technically illegal (but what do I know about information ethics, i'm just an it student). Still, I come to this site because I believe they have bigger fish to fry....

your IP address isnt your street address, and it doesnt lead to your house. for instance, when i search my IP address it takes me to a whole other state.

they can hack and get your info, but they cant use that info against you in court. so hacking RIU's servers to get your info to bust your personal grow isnt going to benifit them one bit.

your personal grow is safe. theres guys posting pics of uberpoundage that have been here for years without getting busted.

That's an awful lot of effort for law enforcement TBH. Just don't post picture of a grow so big it makes you a trophy fish.

they don't have to hack anything. the data is certainly stored on the servers, yes; but they intercept internet traffic, they catch the data BETWEEN your computer and the server. but yea, don't make yourself out to be a trophy fish and you're not worth their time... unless the policies ever change....

They proably do, everytime i search about growing my comp get slow... hmm.. dont think it anything to do with the cop??? maby im just trippin. but if they are reading this fuck you pigs!

It could be possible for you to be traced but they would need far more evidence than a few questions to get a search warrant. If you posted a bunch of pictures and said you were a large grower LEO would possibly check out your place with a heat gun looking for a heat signature and check your electricity usage and if they came up with enough to point to you growing they could get a warrant.

I am a member of several herb sites and when the people at the others found out I had joined here they all told me to leave because according to them it is either run by LEO or has been cracked by LEO and they mine information and gather evidence.

I tend to doubt that but I would not be at all surprised if some LEO hangs around here, like they likely do at all her sites, and pose as dumb new growers and type messages with intentional spelling errors and bad grammar etc. to appear to be harmless and then suddenly ask someone for some beans or ask a bunch of questions and some are fairly targeted that could be something they need to know to take steps towards nailing you.

It is best to never say what if anything you actually have going on at the time and to not post pictures but so many people do that people all assume there is little to no danger to it.

Now LEO is not going to waste time and money on some guy with 3 plants in a closet if they think they can find a commercial grower with 50 or 100 or whatever plants in their basement. They want the big fish far more than the small fry so even if they know something or suspect something about a small fry the odds of it going anywhere are slim.
