120W each would do it and yeah it would be reasonably efficient. those chips are good in that range.

you could even get away with 1818s if you were on a budget
would be better more points of light 8 1216 at 50w each or would be enough with those 4 1825.

If Im running 4 Luminus 22',, with a HLG 600H-54B, how does the Cob know the MA i would want to run them at? 1400ma is the plan. That would just be assumtionally adjusted thru the dimming I suppose? Should i get a LED meter for that purpose? And if so, what kind would i use for this 600H- driver?

its up to you to provide it with the correct current and voltage. a 600-54B wont go over 54V which is right about 1400 mA

a $10 voltmeter is more useful than lightmeter if thats what youre asking.

OOOOook, I see now..

And the Meter, I was referring to a meter that displays Volts, watts, amps. I have one already, and it maxes at 20amps, I should be able to use that one. just wasnt sure how the cobs knew my desired FC is all.. thanks for your time bud.

look at the datasheet. the cobs can ONLY operate on or near that curve (within some variation). so for example a luminus cxm22 at 54V cannot go over 1600 mA. in your case you can dim the driver and measure amperage directly until its 1.4. most people "fill up" their drivers as they are more efficient that way. generally 50% or more

So i should be using 420watts worth of this driver to be most efficient, 105 watts per/cob @4pc. or 5 pc at 84watts each. Man, in a 2x2, thats alot of light,lol..

I want to build the same kind of light but with COBs instead "COBs are more readily available".

@CobKits would the HLG 120H- C1400A driver run 4 of the luminous light engines you sell up to 185W in a 2x2 space ?

120h series is a 150W driver it cant push 185W

When I turn the pot in the driver all the way up it registers 185W on my kill o watt I have it plugged into, this is running 2 QB304s. Unless your saying it cant get the COBs I mentioned to 185W ?

185W input =/= 185W output

youre probably getting 165V out of it on the DC side

sounds like your boards are a good voltage match which may or may not be the same for cobs

I'm coming up with 576.8 watts, and how I'm getting that is like this - 10 COBs at 51.5 volts each. The driver pushes out 11.2 amps, divided by 10 (cobs) meaning each COB gets 1.12 amps. So with those numbers:
51.5 volts × 1.12 amps each =57.68 watts per COB, ×10 COBs = 576.8 watts.

This sound logical?

You need to account for driver loss as well, so at 94% efficiency 612 watts.
 
I'm looking to get started with led lights. Would like suggestions for a light to get the most out of a 2x4x8 closet. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
