you need chip holders (bjb or ideal) as well as thermal interface material (either 8 pads or a 4g tube of arctic silver)
Yeah forgot to mention the chip holders and the thermal paste thanks. What price would you have on all those parts with shipping to ireland mate

What type COB and color temp best for flowering ? or Q board

Seems like 90CRI better on all cobs due to higher red on spectral chart.

i use 3500k 90

3000k 90 also great for flowering

there are quite a few different threads about the reasons why

i think most people would say the differences are subtle.

Think I might have a bad driver. I tried dimming using a 50k, 1/4 watt resistor. Lights go out. Today I wired in a pot, not lights no matter the setting. Attached another that is in use on another driver and known good, light won't light up with anything connected to the dimmer circuit. Help??

citis next rev is supposed to be Q2 or Q3 2018
new luminus in Q1 2018

i want to see both these guys squeeze 5% more light out and drop prices 10%

they may be squeezing all they can out of the chips but in a competitive market theres always room for price drops

Hey COBKits! I was looking on sending you a PM but I couldn't due to the fact that I'm a new member. I would like to ask you a couple of questions:
I was looking to jump on LEDs but being new to this I just need some guidelines. First of all i have in consideration one of these two grow box sizes : 4x8 and a 6.5x6.5. I don't have a limited budget so I was looking for the best light for flowering and vegging considering the max output of 1000w from the wall. Said that,I would like to know if you have the service of making the complete fixture and how much W would it be for an ideal coverage for the two grow box and the final price. I've seen around that many growers go for your COBs but I don't have any DIY skills so that's why I'm searching for a complete fixture.

So just an afterthought on the purchase of the "light engines" from Cobkits.

I had not settled on a way to mount these heat sinks and LEDs until recently a month after making my purchase I settled on the rapid LED canopy substrate.

If you do plan on using the rapid LED substrate, I would encourage you to also purchase your heat sinks for Rapid LED as you would be more guaranteed an exact fit into the rails.

Given what the rapid LED staff of straight offers for the do it yourself LED grow light Community I am sure companies like cobkits will soon offer 140mm pin fin heat sink options.

With this rail system being so new, compatible heatsink size is a serious consideration especially for people who are going into this rail system for the ability to put Quantum boards and cob LEDs on an easy to manage frame.

Answers:
1. The frame of your fixtures will need to be built by you or have a machine shop build them according to the specifications given. Other than that, COBKits has some pre-built LED(Diode, heatsink, wire, holder) assemblies for purchase. The LED "driver" are sold separately.

2. A large amount of knowledge you may need to piece together your own fixtures can be found in the web forum.

You can also build a custom one out of aluminum angle for about 1/10th the cost Rapid sells it for and cut it to whatever size heatsink you order.
