1.) Hahahaha .. lol .. NOTHING is impossible .. They can be grown correctly just like any other strain ... There are tons of myths and urban legends surrounding the Sativa Breeds .. Most are not true ... They need to be Vegged a little longer than Indica in order to get the same quality as you get from an indica .. But it is no harder to grow them correctly indoors than any other Indica strain ..My next grow I want to be Sativa, I'm sick of the couchlock stupor budz.
Some friends are urging me not to go pure sativa because it's:
1. Impossible to grow correctly / efficiently indoors.
2. Yield is paltry compared to Indica harvests.
3. Sativa always grows tall so I'll run out of space.
4. Takes a really long time to veg/flower/harvest.
I grow for personal use only, so I don't care as much about the yield (4 plants should get me a few ounces/3-4 months right?). I care about the quality and about a really light heady cerebral buzz with lots of energy
I also don't mind working with a "difficult" plant as I love to learn hands-on about plant problems and try new things with them - topping, lst, hydro, scrog, etc.
But, I don't want to be screwed on a grow because I tried a strain that is for professional outdoor growers or something. I was thinking a Kali Mist or something?
What do you think?
2.) They Yield as much as any other strain depending on how they are grown .. Veg time, growing skills and environment are all the most important factors .. If you know what you are doing .. You can get a crazy amount of yeild from them even indoors .. A pound per plant is possible with the correct growing methods ..
3.) Yes, they grow very tall .. some of them can get up to 20 feet easily .. but most average around 9 or 10 feet when fully mature and fully flowered after stretch .. The way to control the height is to LST them .. this will cause them to stay short and bushy .. similar to indica strains .. and they will yeild more that way because you end up with more main cola tops than you would if you do not LST .. When you don't LST they get tall (shaped like an X-mas tree) and you have to raise the light up higher .. which can prevent growth of the lower Buds .. Grow lights, unlike the sun only give light from ONE direction .. the top ..
So By LST'ing them you are able to keep the light closer to all the buds on the plant .. outside is a different story because the SUN gives off sooo much light, it can light up the upper and lower buds .. You can keep them 2 feet High and 3 feet wide when you LST .. producing some serious yeild per plant
4.) Some do and some don't ... Haze strains take a good amount of time to flower all the way out .. but other Landrace strains such as Katema can take 8 to 9 weeks which is about the average length of time it takes to flower out most indica strains .. Maui Waui takes around 11 weeks which is only a few weeks longer than most indica strains that can take up to 9 weeks .. If a sativa is what you really want .. an extra 2 or 3 weeks is not a lot of time to wait in order to grow what your heart desires
Good luck to all who decide to grow a sativa .. they are truly wonderful strains to smoke .. and if you have been smoking street bud for a lot of years which are mostly indica .. a sativa can be something Very new and rewarding .. the experience is a lot different than smoking indica strains .. even though I like both indica and sativa equally .. sometimes I like a clear spacey high and sometimes I like to be stoned so bad that I am in retard mode .. lol ..
When by myself give me indica over sative .. I like to be stupid stoned when home alone .. hahaha
When in a social setting .. give me sativa over indica .. I like to be talkative and happy around other people
