Indian Landrace Sativa Outdoors - is it looking ready?

When I start to see the pistils slowing down in growing, I break out the Microscope and look at the trichs every other day.
I harvest when I see the trichs starting to turn amber. I prefer couchlock. :blsmoke:

I havent seen new pistil growth for a week now, but still a lot of white pistils... I guess I should wait a bit more?

What size loupe/microscope do you use?

if it's a typical plant it looks like about 2-3 weeks left maybe longer considering its a sativa
I've had sativas that do exactly what you are showing, indefinitely, with never actually "finishing" in the traditional sense anyways.

been flowering for over 60 days now...

I will take off a small bud today and see how it smokes,,,maybe that is the only way to know when its ready...

Is a 30x-40x lopue good enough to check out the trichomes?

Hi guys

Posting some bud shots of my Indian Landrace Sativa grown outdoors - need your input on how close/far away they are looking from being ready?

Kingfisher, judging by those pics, you still have about a month to go. All those white pistils need to be withered and the buds have a lot of filling-up to do. Happy Harvesting man !

Not ready few more weeks. You do have a 2 week harvest window -Generally a plant is ready for harvest in 2-2.5 mo's depending on strain, so sativa's can take up to 14-16 weeks, being it is a lance 3 weeks !! (then you will be in ball park

I would let them go until they're "dead-ripe" (as long as possible). Even landrace sativas will ripen eventually. You can speed up the process by giving them a longer dark period (ie. 8/16 light cycle). They will ripen much faster if exposed to such a long dark period. Cannabis is hardy and can take a light frost (usually) before any significant damage occurs. I once flowered a Mandala Safari mix in my COLD attic in January. I remember the temp dropped to 25f and the plant continued to grow (at a slower rate) but you get the idea. My advice = Let them ripen as much as possible. Purple leaves are normal in cold temps, don't worry about that. I would try to give them 16 hrs. of uninterrupted darkness ASAP, and you will see them ripen up much quicker. Hope this helps 8)

Yes, thats re-assuring. :)

Just wanted to thank everybody ...always helps to have someome to calm you down when in doubt !!

For anyone thats interested, here are pics of another sativa that is currently under flowering. This one stretched for a good 15-20 days before settling down. I am very excited by this particular plant, its different from the first one - the buds are looking different, smells quite different, much more sticky, so sticky in fact that its almost like a mild glue :) and also, today i noticed some red hairs (pistils) also coming out apart from the usual white pistils. So far I have only heard about genetics from my country that have buds with red hair...very exciting times. I hope I can see them through after coming this far.

Basically growing the two plants in one single hempy bucket.

See the red hairs in those buds? Like I said before, these are not hybrid strains, so finding such traits in natural genetics is very exciting for me.

Kingfisher - Those are some BEAUTIFUL plants bro !!! ~ I can understand your excitement about the pink pistils, I would be thrilled if those were my plants also. The plants look like they have another month to go (at least). Try giving them more dark hrs every night (8/16) and they will start to ripen faster.

Yeah mate been thinking of how i can do that - I dont want to take these plants inside my grow room because they have always been outside - dont want any pests/insects (if any) entering my indoor grow room.

Might make a big cardboard box to cover them for a few hours every day for light depreviation

Happy to report that while its still VERY cold at nights (getting as low as 2 degrees c - 35f), there has been no frost and sun is shining bright during the day.

I took a sample bud when I started this thread - exactly 10 days ago - and another sample yesterday. In 9 days the difference is very noticable. The pistils are now 20%-40% brown. I don't have a loupe or microscope so cant say about the trichs. I guess I will keep watching the pistils and will take off another small bud in 3-4 days and see how it goes.
Took some pics, will upload soon.

On the second plant, which according to me is going to give a much much better smoke, is getting more and more yellow. Im quite worried - i noticed some dark blackish spots on the bottom side of the leaves so I am guessing spider mites?
Bought some root cloning powder will try and take a clone of this second plant and if successful then im gonna grow it indoors.

Also tried germinating some white widow, ak48, sweet tai and a bunch of other seeds i had from 2 years ago. NONE germinated. Must have ruined them somehow. Time to order some fresh seeds.

Thats an awesome plants you have! I am a newbie, this is my first time growing and I have question for you.

I also have landrace sativa strain, probably from thai since I live in south east asia. Its been in vegetative stage for 5 weeks in 12/12 outdoor pot. How longdo your plants show its sex?

:eyesmoke: Cheers mate

Yea, that girl looks great. Be sure you're ready for the weight when she starts to swell though. Im running a sativa dominate right now (strawberry cough) and I have had to tie up literally every bud sight because the stems are too skinny to hold the weight lol. All kinds of blue yarn holding things up in my neck of the woods xD hahaha.
