In need of sugestions, reguarding side lighting for flower rm?

I have a buddy who has a flwr rm, dimientions go, 5ft width 6 ft length, 9 ft height.
Theres a 1 k hps in there, but too my knowledge, a 1k hps will cover a 5x5 area at max, being i have a foot to work with i planned on putting younger veged plants in the flw rm, for personals, so i figured id look into lighting that will cover a 1.5 ft width- 5ft length area, my best guess goes as...
1. Cfl- [tried and proven] but less efficent and bulbs go out and are costly depending what cfl you got [t5-t6]

2. Cob led light. [perhaps ones i can replace, as i hear led dont last long-cheap. Or perhaps a vipra spectra?



My buddys running a perepet grow, so he was just wondering what ways to go, theres so much misinformation/ biast info, just thpught id ask you guys.

I was also thinking of gettin a 150 hps or 250 watt hps as the side lighing.
Or even a but load of high intensity led strip lights?

The little 45w blurple LED panels on Amazon (+ 600w HPS) actually worked well in my 5X5. They are cheap too, like $25 each.

I only used three in my 5X5. They are surprisingly bright and my plants seemed to really like them.
My buddy uses these to veg his small plants and likes them a lot:

Im trying to find the blurple bran led pannels but natha, is it a general reference to cheaper led such as mars 300 or so?
Or rather an actual brand, ive heard of them but im not sure what they are.

If I read you correctly, this is veg space, correct? If so, put 4 BXEB-L1120Z-40E400-C-A3 on an HLG-1185H-C1050A and you'll be laying down ~500 umol/sqft -- just right for veg -- for < $150.

Thank you ao much for the written info, ill keep those specs in reference, could i apply this same setup to my flower rm? Or are more units required for bud development reasons?
This would be extra lighting in my "FLOWER" rm,

For flower, just double the number of strips and drivers. That would give you a very respectable 1000 umol/sqft for flower. Check page 4 of the thread in my signature. About 1/2 way down is a complete parts list.
