Impeach Obama?

President Obama is going to plead his case tonight to the American people on national TV, as to why we must attack Syria to show the world that the use of chemical weapons will not be tolerated. Congress is leaning away from granting him that wish, but he states that he really doesn't need it, that he is just being nice enough to ask. Polls stand at 61% of voters do not agree that we need to attack, while only 27% support going to war, which actually is nice for a change. So, my question is this. If Obama goes against the wishes of the American people and ignores Congress, which he claims he can, could he, or should he be impeached? One way or the other, this is going to be very interesting to see what happens.
I'm on the fence as to whether or not it's our responsibility as a nation to police every such bad act around the world...although I do condemn the use of chemical weapons.

And although I'm a republican (more libertarian, really), I don't think Obama should be impeached based solely upon his (possible) decision to attack Syria in response to their use of chemical weapons.

Just think about all those kids whose lungs were burned and vaporized while they breathed for life-giving air...their agony...their slow, painful death...not screaming only because they couldn't expel air out of their vaporized lungs...wondering why breathing hurt so much when it had never hurt before.

And also think about the number of our troops who would die and leave widows and fatherless children behind if we intervene.

I'm just glad it's not me who is making this decision.

As much as I wanted Obama voted out of office in 2012, I have some sympathy for him now...he has tough decisions to make...

Guy I don't want war on Syria. I merely state the facts...take it or leave it, but it is what it is. I got out the USAF because of Bush and his war on Iraq. I also disagree with Obama if he calls war on Syria, but I do realize The War Powers Act can allow him to do this...now how hard do you think it would be to make Syria a immanent threat to the USA? not hard at all
This thread was about impeaching Obama, in which you can not for the reasons that was mentioned.
We agree on the shittyness and that Obama can do whatever he wants. My stance is that Syria is not an immanent threat and if he claims it to be, we better start invading NK and Iran at the minimum. He can use that card and get away with it, not because the law says, but because we'll let him get away with it. He has said many times that Syria does not pose a threat to us, we are punishing Assad for chem weapons. He has also said they could possibly pose an immanent threat because some of those weapons could get in the wrong hands. If that's the case Russia and China also need a few bombs dropped on them.

I agree with you in that he can use the war powers act but only because he can do whatever he wants.

What happens to the stockpiles if we bomb them? Wouldn't gas get dispersed with the explosions or would it be vaporized? I'm not understanding this part.

most gas weapons arent stored as the active agent, but as a "Packet Mix" like the notorious "Brown Gravy" you can buy in supermarkets (which should be banned by the geneva convention) which is prepared shortly before being loaded into the warhead.

plus, an FAE bomb can in fact burn off most active chemical agents when it goes Ka-DOOOOOSH!

Every time you give them money to buy bombs to police the world and fry babies, you've made a decision. It seems you are avoiding your own personal tough decisions.

hey now, theres no evidence that assad (or anyone else) has WMD's in syria.

thats all a lie cooked up by the left to gin up support for Obama's War For Oil!

US Sanction s will probably kill 200 Million Syrian Babies over the next two weeks

The NeoLib Chickenhawks staged the gas attacks to distract from (insert Crazy Ass Conspiracy Involving Henry Kissinger and The Tides Here) so they can (Insert Nutty Wacko Conclusion Here)

Hurricane Sandy was a deliberate plot by the Health and Human Services Dept, Planned Parenthood and Gary Coleman's Ghost to hide their theft of 2.3 quadrillion Dr Pepper bottle caps from the National Strategic Bottle cap Reserve, and youre all just too blind to see it!

There is actually no evidence to show Assad gassed his own people, only evidence of the gas.

This is fact, whether it agrees with your narrative or not.

LIES, LIES, ALL LIES!!

you are obviously in the employ of BASF, trying to conceal their culpability in the murder of 5 BILLION Syrian babies through the use of their products by The Mysterions, against the innocent children of Syria.

they launched that attack with the help of the Marcab Confederacy, and the Jehovah's Witnesses, to help conceal Russia's plot to destabilize the region so the French could seize the stratigcally vital Date Plantations in syria and lebaon, providing the Basque Revolutionary Front access to the Mediterranean and thus, open their shipping lanes for Greek Olive Oil (a cruical component in their marinades) so the 7th Day Adventists could expand their hegemony into the near east!!

It's all so obvious!

Wow Barack keeps getting punked out by Putin. The more we watch the more he looks like
a inexperienced child and the more pathetic he makes America look to the world.

Americans are very much against chemical weapons, the problem is nobody trusts our commander in chief; much less Obombers motives. Also puzzling, is why would he ask congress to vote on it? History has shown us that Obomber could give a damn about Congress, and has many times done things by way of "executive authority"

Just playing good politics. You can bet the strategy began with how can we make this the republicans fault if everything goes to shit.

Maybe it's about time we reconsider his impeachment. I mean. Some random guy ran from the gates, all the way to the front door. I mean, even Woolf Blitzer was like, oh snap! So!

Cool thread bump.

We were arguing over whether or not we should bomb Syria to remove Assad. Now we are bombing in Syria to HELP Assad. It makes me wonder what our true intentions in Syria is.

This will be a movie some day.
