Impact of Medical Marijuana on Prices

In places were medical marijuana is legal, what impact has it had on the price of pot from other, non-medical sources?

Anyone have thoughts, experience?

Here in my country where it is totally illegal you can sell swag for about $550 an ounce.

My experience, In midwest, for good shit:

Michigan- medical- about 250/ oz. 300 if you don't know anybody, like at all.
One state south- ohio- about 350/ oz, drop maybe 25 if you have the right connect.
One state FURTHER south- kentucky- 375/ oz.

A few years ago, I found it odd that KY was more expensive than ohio, but given ohio has decriminalized under 100g it makes sense

michigan here it's still 10 a gram and average prices, if you got bomb stuff people will pay more, so quailty is everything but for bigger amounts I know the price has dropped quite a bit.

In Tennessee prices can vary. Non medical state mind you.
Scavenger smokers. The people who only pick up like a gram at a time.
20/g just for being a Pain in the ass.
If your dealer is a pretty decent dude then 50 per 1/8. That's about the standard. 45-40 if your dude is awesome. I've never personally seen good quality at that price though. Greedy guys will throw them at 60 to people who don't have other options. And I've seen some bunk personally @60 an 1/8th via people I've met. I've seen people who pay that as well. Usually people in the ghettos or messing with people from the ghettos.
Per zip it usually depends on your guy. Prices don't really start to drop from the standard unless you're going an OZ or more. Then it's generally they throw in the last 1/8 for free. So at standard it's 350 an oz. If you really luck up you can score some for 320 or even 300. Not a bad haul if you're one of those guys who does business on the side to cover your overhead and keeps the rest for themselves @ standard price to patients.
That's actually what a lot of the small time greedy price guys do. But their clients usually jump ship as soon as they find something better.
Lets take a buddy of mine for instance. He works in an industrial plant with 100+ people. Get's his stuff (seriously not through me) for 300per zip. It's decent stuff. Not shwag. I'd classify it as middle class to upper middle class. Just commercial Indica outdoor. (I actually started some seeds from it and it had dinner plate leaves just to see what it was about)
He easily gets rid of 2 zips a week there. He COULD take on more people but won't. It's like clockwork. Every payday his phone blows up and he throws some 1/4s at people. Won't mess with anything under or Scavengers. Doesn't smoke himself. When everything is said and done he makes an extra 200$ a week @ standard price. Keeps enough to re-up. Saves his profit to pay his mortgage and every now and then a new video game or a guitar or something.
If the guy had the discipline to grow he'd make a killing with one outdoor season a year.
It'll be legal federally before it is here statewide. MJ arrests and prosecutions are pretty much at a low. The cops are after the meth guys and pill people. The only time they generally arrest someone for bud is when they're smoking and driving. Then that's a 1'500 fine (max and I've never seen under) Which personally I frown upon. Or if it's someone who they've had numerous problems with. Just another charge to keep em in the pokey longer pretty much.
In a nutshell they're looking to get a quick DUI fine. Or 1129 in the county pokey. Then your license is suspended for a year as well.+ reinstatement fee after. Probation nets them another 25$ per week. It's tacked on there per visit. "Supervision costs" The fun part comes in with people who get their license suspended. People gotta drive to go to work to pay off the state. Then it's 1000 when they get pulled over. 3000 a pop after the 1st. Pot doesn't profit them directly as much as it does indirectly. So they're in no hurry to even consider it when it comes up on the ballet. I know a guy who got his license suspended for above reasons. After his court date was over the same cop drove to his house. Parked up the street hidden. Then popped him when he pulled out of his driveway. We're talking the next day.
Prices would drop considerably if it was legal. A vast majority of citizens live outside of city limits. Things stay nice and rural. Land is cheap so anyone with a house is usually sitting on an Acre+
Everyone I know would probably toss a few plants in the yard.

In Flint Michigan no one i know pays more than 200$ a zipper. For very good weed too. More like 150 to 175$ This town is a free for all. Everyone is growing. Every grade of pot can be had for cheap. There is a reason we had 2 High Times Cups in 2 years here.

Before medical went on in Michigan you really couldnt find really good indoor smoke. Schwag compressed seedy mexi was about all you could get. If you could get good indoor seedless prices were 300$ to 400$ a zip. Since medical in 2008 prices have steadily decreased over time and quality has gone up tenfold. And decent smoke is all over. Especially in Flint. Everyone has high quality pot. The police dont even really bother you unless they get a complaint or they are tipped off to caregivers over the legal limit. Its wide open here. And fairly over saturated. Matter of fact the voters of this City voted to completely legalize possession an ounce or under. Many cities in Michigan did. But the chief of police said it was just symbolic and they would still enforce state law. But in reality they backed off big time. Believe me....in this town they definitely have better things to do than bust stoners. But they will bust your ass still occasionally. They want the big outfits really. And only if they are tipped off. My buddy had 12 plants outside in a locked pen. Actually it was zip tied. But other than that he was legit. Had his card and everything. Helicopter flies by middle of summer. Week later he gets the knock. Cops didnt even come in. They just wanted to see his outdoor in the back. Cop told him to put a real lock on the pen and cap it so it cant be seen poking out the top. They will be back next year to check and have a good harvest. See....here they just dont want rippers or growers having a gunfight in a backyard or a basement. Or a marijuana related robbery gone wrong. Thats all they care about. Thank god we all been cool since med marijuana took effect. No bad shit has really made headlines so the fuzz leaves us all alone for the most part.

That's fucking awesome, I wish conservative ass West MI was like that. Grand Rapids shut down all the shops, even had police departments kick in the doors, confiscate the merch, etc. Used to be more dispensaries than grocery shops, until local governments had to ruin all the fun

I live in a medical state (Maine), in fact two towns have completely legalized it, including recreational use too. I'm sure the rest of the state will follow soon. Pot grown outdoors is hard to sell here.
Outdoor weed can be had for cheap here, maybe 1k for a lb.
Indoor, good quality medical weed like Alaskan thunder fuck is 200 an oz all day long.
You can pick your strain at 200 an oz,
This is buying from a caregiver, purchased at a dispensary and you'll pay more.
I see the price dropping even further.
Peace

In Illinois it's 950 or thereabouts for a quarter pound, I dont buy less, and it comes from Cali. I know I can get it for less but I'm about to move to Colorado so I don't want to be spending money to go out there and back every week

Do these towns have dispensaries that will sell recreationally to anyone 21+ ? Or do you have to be a resident of Maine? If not, then I'm about to take a little road trip haha

No change here in Canada. It was expected that mj was to be sold from LCBO outlets but that hasn't materialized. It could be a consistency with the weed problem or just more bureaucracy.
