I am looking for a light that would equal or better a mars 300. I am only lighting a 2'x2' area. Im also looking to be around 130$ for a complete set up. Am I better off with a mars for the $ or is there a cob kit thatd cover the area for the $ I have looked at cob kits light engines and rapid led vero29 single cob kit but I really dont know what im looking at. All suggestions appreciated.

there are no cobs that equal mars for inefficiency and unreliability

its a whole different class

you want about 30W/SF of cobs for good results

is there any set ups you could recomend that'd be in the 130$ range. I dont mind putting things together if I've got the right parts in front of me.

Triple that and you can get some good results, but maybe a few single cobs and single cob drivers would put you in that range, but that would be a stretch IMO

how about a single cob and heatsink and driver that i could expand on later? I'm looking for something to start some seedlings and house plants then later add some more cobs. I have 400hps i can use but if i buy a piece at a time compared to a large amount at one time itll work out better for me.

You can but it won't be cost efficient I would stick with the MH or get a small T5 setup till you save up. Quality takes money
