I'm new to growing and need advice plz

I think I have my setup figured out, I just wanted an opinion from someone who knows the tricks of the trade. I'm getting an Apollo tent 2×4×5, a 400w hps light with 6" cooltube. Fox farm ocean forest soil and nutes. Any advice on this setup?

If you can afford it Id go with a 600W digital dimmable ballast allowing you to upgrade to a 600W set up by just buying new bulbs. Dimmable allows you to use 400w or 600W. Filter for smell or does that not matter? 1 or 2 small fans?

Smell doesn't matter to an extent. I smoke a lot and my friends sometime smell it out side but it not that bad. 1 fan for vented hood and one for inside the tent. There will be a max of maybe 4 to 6 plants at once. the fan for the vented hood is 240 cfm. will this be enough??

Exact same set-up, nutes and light that I've been using for 3 years now. You wont be disappointed. Two things though...I doubt you will get more than (4) in there, and with the 5 foot height, be sure to accommodate for stretch when you switch to 12/12. Otherwise good luck and keep us posted

its all strain dependent but usually 20 inches max. when in a 5 gallon bucket. Some strains will stretch nearly 3X during flowering. The good thing is that if you underestimate and they get too big, you can always bend the tops over and tie them down or something. Yield is also strain dependent. My latest grow was (3) Master Kush which yielded just over 6 zips dry and jarred...so about 2 zips per plant

i have 3 gal pots. i didnt want to spend money on seeds my first go at this, so i used some seeds out of some pretty fire bud (not too terribly good because of seeds) but the best i have had with seeds in it. so im not sure what strain it is. i was told it was orange kush but i cant be sure. if i can get half the yield you do i will be pretty happy. im hoping to get some feminized seeds but im sketched out by the process i have to go through to get them. so bagseed may be my only choice for now. the palnts are round about 2 weeks old under cfls at the moment. they look pretty good to me but idk what they are supposed to look like since i have no experience at this. will be getting tent and hps for flowering

If you're gonna make the plunge and invest in quality equipment, the last thing you wanna do is use inferior seeds. You get what you put into it so don't skimp on probably THE most important aspect of the entire process. Even the best growers in the world can't get great smoke out of seeds with bad genetics.

thats cool. thanks for the info. maybe this will get me on the right track. i hope all this works out. im tired of paying a buttload for pot when i could just grow it. @woody333333 you say you like herbies. have you used any other site to compare to herbies??

If you do have a problem be cool and they'll probably make things right..... Seems like the standard w all of em tho that if you're a dick you're screwed

Ive just received my latest seeds from Herbies. Very discreet packaging and just 5 days to get here. (East coast, USA)
