Right now I'm growing in a 12"x12" 18" tall box and I do some bending and LST.I'm goin to probably give scrog a try once I get the cabinet.I'm not 100% set on that cabinet if I find something that I like better by the time I start it I will change it. More than likely what I will be doing in this cabinet is I'll run a test batch through it of some random seeds to see how it will work then I'll order some good seeds and grow 1 or 2 at a time and LST or scrog it/them and just try and get the most off each plant.

yea not much vert space at all part time.. consider the size of a 3 gal pot man things are 10inchs tall minimum.. but any space can be made to work but u wont get the most out of it sayin that in general...

but scrog changes that all up

iv heard great things about thos blackstar ufo lights but only the multiband ones

I am running a ViparLED 600 watt 5w dimmable FULL SPECTRUM off ebay... and I am extremely happy so far.

Runs cool with only a 10inch exhaust in my 2x2 tent.

Yes 600 watts in a 2x2 and it is cool to the touch after being on for 20 hours... Saving money on electricity, ducting, cheaper fans...

So much better quieter and smarter than any other type of lighting I have used.

Im sold on LEDS (and the cheap ones from china seem to rock it just like the expensive big boys)

It dimms to 300 watt and takes about 250 watts off the wall.

It has been on 20/4 since I unpacked it. 2 months ago...

Stay tune for my grow... Im new here so hit me up and help me out bro.

3x3x6.5 grow tent, growing one plant at a time with scrog and lst. Not wanting to spend anything over $200 on an LED.. Should I buy a cool tube 400watt hps or find a led under $200??

HPS but you are going to need to invest in at least one inline fan which is another ~100 bucks and even with only one you may not cool 400w's enough (including your environment+filter)

One plant should be easy to do with LED, but life expectancy could be shit for that price.. But so could the HPS'

Yeah ona have to get a 6" inline fan n carbon filter net ways ;I so for $200 you would choose hps?
Carbon filter==> Cool Tube Light ==> Inline Fan ===>vented outside through exterior wall vent.

Your filter isn't going to do anything through the cool tube, you would to blow through your filter (less efficient) or get two fans.

Get a cheaper tent and spend 300 on the ViparLED 600 watt 5w full spectrum... the one thing you should not skimp on is your light. I did alot of research and on ebay I picked one up. Spend the extra hundred and when you are chopping 10 weeks later you will thank yourself for doing it.
I will never go back to my hps
Because you will save all the money and time of exhausting, cooling, you dont even need an expensive can fan... a 10 inch cheapo exhaust will cool the 600.

I agree, why even have a tent that big for 1 plant? You can fit 4 plants in a 2x2 and put that ViparLED or an Onyx Bloom or an A-51 light and not have to worry about light as a variable in your grows.

I have an IR /UV question. Limited room for much more light but can make some extra positions at some stage.
These 10w UV&IR multichips... iv'e seen the flower initiators used in past grows here but are these worth considering (or fluro/incadescent still a better option)?:

Yip...I use the 10w uv leds in my setup...still going if that is what you are asking.

also use 5w 660nm and 5w 730nm multichips as well..

Thanks Chronikool. I used a reptile CFL in my last grow and have tried incandescent (Philips Reveal) as a flower initiator.
My current setup isn't going to have room (or mains power) to play with these so iv'e just got interested in whether the latest LED offerings are worth making space for.
I can probably fit 2/3 in with my 100w of CXA3070's but need to design around them a bit.

Seen your grows, have a bunch of floodlights to prove it :razz:... hadn't realised you'd used these, i'll go and have another look.

Guess my question just relates to that, whether these particular chips are worth making space for (already a believer in the theory.. just unsure if the LED tech/specs are fantasy), maybe there's a more reliable manufacturer, with proper specs etc. listed...

Great advice... go big especially with autos. I am rocking a 2x2 with autos. Use cocco with airpots 5 gallon. Water every 2-3 days easy... ph 5.5 ec 1.8
