I want to clear this up, are you saying you want to veg 4o at a time? So to have 4o plant harvests using SOG?

Small little 10x10x10cm should do, I veg for 8 weeks in pots that size, but I transplant 2 sizes bigger when I flower though.

This is good, I'm wondering the same thing.. I'm going to go with 2 gallon bags, just because I really dont see how extra space for root mass could hurt, unless they just get massively tall for your op.. but I guess that could be avoided by cutting the veg time down..?

2 gallon is good if you don't want to be watering every other day. I went with 3 gal last time and worked well. I now pick the biggest possible pot size to accommodate the canopy area I want one plant to fill. The 3 gallon has a diameter of 11 inches, perfect for a bushy top.

thanks ccodiane, but do you think my height restrictions (7') could be an issue if I went w/ 3 gallons? I have no idea on the strain, so I don't want to risk them getting too tall... or should i even worry?

what would you do

ive seen pretty decent sized plants growing in ridiculously small containers

i dont really subscribe to all the rootbound theories, and i think it is possible to grow a plant to maturity in a beer cup, but it would be tedious

unless you're dead set on using soil, take hydro into consideration. pick up a copy of garden knowm's video and look at how many plants are fit into a small little area! it's pretty sweet, and check out the 30 minute aero build

7 feet, no problem. With the lights and the distance from them between the plants, you will still have at least 3-4 ft to work, with the pot of course. 2-3 foot plants are going to be heavy yielders.

1 400 watt light and some cfls isnt gonnabe enough for 40 plants. A 600 watt will barely cover that you ll need a 1000 watt light. The 400 might do 20 1 foot plants so that means you have to start clones and go right to flower when planted.

Yep. I would go 2000 watts for 40 plants, personally.

thats about the dimensions on mine and im only putting 13 6inch pots with 12inch plants and two 3 gallon pots with 2-1/2ft plants on each side of the closet and i feel im pushing it but when i get another 400w im definatly gonna try for about 30........ras
