Read the grow journals. Try this one by Bob Smith

There are FAR too many lessons to learn for me to try to detail them all. Your best bet is to read what others have done and learn from them. If you ask specific questions, many people will help. You should invest as much time as you can afford into learning and reading. Give a man a fish and he'll eat one meal . . . show him how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. Something like that ;)

That's a link to my journal thus far.

I have a 4'x4' tent 600w light with digital ballast and a simple flood and drain hydroponic system. I have a 6" valueline fan and a 435cfm carbon filter.

Only things I would change about what I have is I would get a better quality tent than what I did, and get a lightweight carbon filter that can handle a high cfm.

Read my journal and you can see how I went about putting things together. I removed pictures lately, but you can read about what I have. Total setup cost was around $1,500 and that is with buying some things used off of craigslist.

I got a great deal on there for the hood and ballast, top notch stuff for a fraction of the cost, just make sure you deal in person with someone a couple towns over.

thats definitely in the right direction..
minus the needs for intake/exhaust, cooling and odor control..
