ice cold watering with soil

it feels great to have ice in your drink on a summer day! It would help keep the drink colder. I usually just have a water bottle at room temp and im doing alright. still hydrates me the same...sometimes if its too cold I might get a toothache or headache if I chug it. The only time I prefer ICE cold water is if its super hot+humid. other than that room temp is all the same.

Ice water is said to shock your plants. But it would be a fun science fair experiment so try it and report back. Make sure you have a control.

How does it benefit watering my girls with ice cold water or how does it not benefit
There is no benefit to watering your plants with cold, or ice cold water, just like you when thrown into a ice cold pool your willy shrinks to a nub, so do roots, the instant retraction of the root in the root zone totally fucks the plant, it instantly locks up those rootlet hairs, as the plant attempts to prevent that cold getting to its core the tap root

For this reason, always have like the guys above ^^.. a bottle 5Lit. of water left open to the local air temperature, also dissipates any Chlorine too

and yes electricity above the waist and water below Rule 1: of grow room ops

food coloring does a better job..... Purples either in the genetic code or not.... No amount of cold water will make a "non-purple" strain go purple....
Then maybe cold weather will turn some non purple strains
purple??
I had some non purple xxx og's (got 'em from well respected Calvin at Cloneville here in Los Angeles) turn violate purple without the genetic code to
do so but it's just speculation. Could be they had a bit in their
genetic code? Mutations? Not sure and no biggie. I do hear what
your sayin' though!

phosphorus deficiency will cause purpling in leaves and buds.... I suppose you could try to force a phosphorus deficiency while giving it ice water....

Purple weed is usually a sign of weed that wasnt fully nurtered, only in certain phenos of certain strains will the bud actually naturaly turn purple.

It shocks the shit out of your roots. That is the main reason I leave water sitting out 24 hours, to let it raise to room temp.

cold water will slow growth..there was a big article in Maximun Yield on it...especialy during flowering...your 8 week strain may take longer to ripen..

i store water in a 55 gallon barrel during the summer..I use that to water...but when it gets colder than 57 degrees outside I use a heater in it to warm the water...

Ed Rosenthal wrote an article also on cold water watering...said it can stop the plant from feeding...said the ideal water temp is 65- 72 degrees...

my buddy has heater cables in his raised beds set on auto and comes on to keep the root zone warm during cold spells

Cold water is a bad thing. It stresses the plant with the initial shock. Plus, there is no known benefit for using cold water. BigSteve.
