I thought you guys were "winning"...?

The reason the energy alternatives are "half assed" is because of the conservative right. They feel such measures undermine their efforts, as their politicians tell them.

Had it not been for the conservative right, such measures wouldn't be "half assed".

Blame them.
Are the right all about profit or not? There has been a serious race to alternative energy from the private sector too. See T Boone Picket and BP's efforts. The people who can come up with a viable alternative will be gajillionaires.

Try an excuse that makes more sense. The efforts are half-assed because we are still in the throwing spaghetti at the wall phase. But as long as the market is ignored by politicians with good intentions, we'll continue with bad policy like our ethanol cartel right now. Agriculture welfare is mostly coming from the right, the Solyndra type welfare is coming from the left. Both sides hung their hats on losing propositions. The answer is not to double down.

I don't trust either side to make policy on technology we know little about. Think of the useless billions we've already spent.

Poke holes in this idea. Instead of billions worldwide being given to people who will lose those billions when a solution is found, let's have a contest. We could announce an international competition with a billion dollars in prize money. The goal is to get a fully loaded semi from NY to California without refueling or recharging. We can pay the top 10 places. For our part, it can be open to anyone, but each state can put up a million in research grants to their favorite state universities. The private sector is involved, universities are involved and foreign countries can enter under private or public. Announce the contest will be held in 2 years.

Do you think my way is cheaper and produces better results or should we just keep financing studies on how global warming is affecting the mating rituals of field mice?

BS. You think throwing money at science can solve this?
If your living is based on receiving government grants for researching a problem, solving that problem is counter-intuitive. Your grants will end with the solution.

If your goal is glory, it works, if your goal is to make a living, it doesn't.

Yet you simply omit the fact that nearly 70% of scientists cited "No position because of inadequate data".

Your side is a small minority with lots of mouthpieces, it's as simple as that.
No, It is actually one of my premises. A third of them concluded affirmative, two thirds could not disprove the theory, and a tiny minority came to conclusions that other factors are responsible.

Yet again I ask, what do you not understand about consensus? Do you think that they were supposed to fucking vote?

So you think that climate scientists are receiving gov't grants to solve the problem?

I thought they were conducting research to understand it.

I think that is not the way govt grants work. IAC, I meant that science cannot be rushed.

9 women cannot make a baby in one month, etc. There is a mis-understanding/conspiracy theory that says, science is only about the funding of research. More money does not equal more discoveries.

And I thought you said there is a 97% consensus that they already understood it?

How much of that money to understand would you be willing to sacrifice to find a viable alternative fuel or a way to increase mileage x 100? 10% fair?

True Doer, but you deal with people all day. If we operated without deadlines, how efficient would you say we'd be?

Besides, I still like the idea of a defined goal before we throw money at something (not saying all of the research falls under this). "We choose to go to the moon not because it's easy..."

Make alternative fuel a competition with fame and fortune as the carrot. Make the prize enough that our brightest minds may see the risk is worth the reward.

The amount of money involved now is a great temptation for fraudulent behavior. Agree that more money isn't the solution.

Just spit balling ideas. Like I said, I planted trees and take the bike instead of the truck on nice days. I feel like I'm helping.

So case closed? It isn't court where we simply deliver a verdict and deal out punitive measures. You sure prattle on incessantly for someone who doesn't know his head from his ass.

Maybe some Holocaust denial and white supremacy will cheer that sorry sack of shit up.
Sorry drunkard, your post history at stormfront doesn't interest me. How was the drunk tank? Walrus bail you out?

I see a chart from google images with no explication as to which miscalculations in particular the image refers to. I see tht it claims to cite IPCC but all that means is that it is some deniers representation of IPCC data. I see you're presenting it as if it were a silver bullet after completely dismissing so many concise arguments with cited peer reviewed studies with no explanation as to why you found them invalid. Most of all, I see a chart that shows clearly that temperatures are still within predicted ranges. Lastly, I see a note which stipulates that everything to the left of the line which looks like 2006 is retrospective models of predictions.

No, why are you so defensive?
When scientists can prove whatever-they-call-it-now is all our fault and can actually get their predictions right i'll be much more inclined to believe them. No one has time for the al gore b/s it just doesn't interest anyone any longer except for the hard core green is the new red crowd and the folks seeking to make cash outta the cow. FFS there isn't even a consensus on it but you'll listen to some yahoo in Queensland, which is Australia's Texas BTW and claim that whatever-they-call-it is tantamount to someone causing you physical harm. Please bro,

In short, no one gives two shits anymore, you people cried wolf too many times and apart from that war is dependent on oil. Humanity ain't moving away from it anytime soon, business is booming atm.

Hows your carbon footprint? How many watts you running to power a grow?

Every time you talk shit to me, I have to remind myself (and everyone else here, every post, every time) that you are not in your right mind and get the check every month to prove it.

I'd rather we discussed things without the extra curricular name calling and ad homs. But when you aren't mature enough (or stable enough I guess) I'll just try remember what's up with you, and remind everyone else, every time.

So should we stop being dicks?

Quit crying.

You need to make things up in order to call me crazy, I call you an idiot and a liar based on your content here. It just makes you even more full of shit that you think you have to "remind everyone that I'm a crazy and unstable combat veteran". It's not like you had any credibility anyway.

Thanks for your service, sorry about the weak mind. I don't want to keep talking about it, but since you keep attacking, I think you must have missed a scheduled med. Just trying to help, like we do every month.

Maybe we could talk to each other like adults when you take your meds and stop attacking like a child. Wanna try it? I do...

Thanks for your service man, sorry about the weak mind.

I don't mind helping with my tax dollars to support you, people like you are the ones that actually need it. Is it for life or can you get better?

We can talk about something else if you'd like. Let's try decency.
