First time grower, had 1 plant (keep in makeshift box with light) that I believe was starting to flower. Plant was doing awesome. Decided to switch fluorescent bulb for heat bulb BC plant was getting bigger. An hour went by with heat bulb as I did some research to see if it was male or female. Went to look at plant and the top half was shriveled to a pulp, dried out half way down the plant. stems and leaves are sagged as low as they can go. Bottom 1/3 with only a few leaves is undamaged. The soil was so hot. Ughh if something ain't broke don't fix it!! I would like to know if any of this sounds salvageable at all. Thanks!

These plants are tough to kill,
If you give me a stem with roots and even a tiny bit of veg left I could EVENTUALLY give you back a plant.

But will it take longer than its worth?
We need pics.

Also why a heat lamp?

Just added pic above your message let me know if you can't see it. And I switched to heat bulb BC I'm inexperienced and I figured more power would have been better to get these buds going. But I believe I messed up leaving it only a couple inches away as the box I made is only about 2x2x1

I only grew the seed BC I found it in my bud that i purchased. Just had a desk lamp and bud light boxes taped together lined with a heat survival blanket(rednecked out) lol. Didn't spend any money

Time will tell. Worst case you join the club of folks that fucked up and killed a plant. Be careful with a cardboard grow box, not good to have fire department over.

Should I do anything with the F***ed up top half? or just let it be? And I am doing some research but like I said I didn't spend any cash on this one. I do plan on starting a grow and this was the opportunity I wanted to work out any errors and to gain this knowledge. Thanks for the help man

Not to be a prick here, BUT! why the fuck would you use a heat lamp on a plant?.. why would this of even been a thought? Was your grow area cold or something...
Charface already said it but I'm saying it again.. read on growing plants, not necessarily cannabis and if possible watch some basic grow vids... If you would of done a small bit of home work this wouldn't of happend. .. the plant is salvageable but will require abit of veg time to get some size back on it.. and don't put anything other then fluorescent lights or l.e.d.'s over until you have the basics down..

I did do some research that got me this far, but I'm very new to this I just didn't get all the details, its what I get for not putting all my time into it but if I would have spent the money to do it right and had more then 1 plant i would have been way more careful with it. I do find find myself getting very passionate about growing though. I enjoy it a lot. Any more advise for next time or this time would be awesome!

Trust me , I know all about the learning curve and trial and error.. when I first started growing I was 13 and at that time the internet was fairly new and wasn't accessible for a lot of people .. even when I had a chance to do some research on growing cannabis there wasn't a whole lot of info available.. with the amount of info available on growing now you shouldn't have to much problems other then impatience which is were most new growers fuck shit up,,like over feeding or watering.. good luck with your new found passion ...

I know ill probably get some shit for this but I just wanted to see if that little seed would grow so I just had a desk lamp with a fluorescent bulb. Some potting soil and a make shift box with a reflective liner. Didn't spend a dime. Which I know some people will say well that's why it died but it was really doing awesome with all the rigged stuff. Just went wrong with switching bulbs. I just lollipopped it a few days prior and it really started growing like wildfire. I was definitely sad more then anything watching that little guy go from a seed to growing into something awesome to half dead

I don't hardly spend much money on my grows.. just utility bills and potting mixes and bulbs... In fact most of my earlier growing endeavors I hardly spent a dime.. so having money or no money into a grow doesn't really mean shit... It's a plant.. it doesn't take much to grow them properly... Just some basic knowledge and you'll be growing badass weed regardless on how much money was put into it...

That's the one thing I felt I was doing good with was patience. I didn't mind waiting, just checked on it daily and watered daily. If I felt like I over watered and plant started looking bad I would act on it and stir and add dry soil and it would bounce back. I tried to be very active with it. And you asked before if my grow room was cold, and to that, I moved my little box to the basement recently, as it started smelling strongly. felt it was cooler down there and that with its stage it needed to be a little warmer. Would the heat bulb be okay if it was a couple feet away or more? It was only a small one didn't think it would ever do this much, especially in a damn hour lol

Short answer... No.. it's not a good bulb to grow with.. if it was a heat lamp like you would put in a chicken house it's not going to do much for growth and is an energy hog... As long as your temps don't drop below, say 60°f in your basement you shouldn't have to do anything to keep it warm.. if temps get below that I would suggest a propagation heat mat or a small electric space heater.. not a heat lamp..
If you find your self over watering, don't chop or stir the soil to aid in drying it out faster,, all your doing is damaging the roots which will slow growth or stress the plant into herming on you..
