I have spare LEDs!! Is this ok to do???

hi everyone✌
As a few of my Budmasater GOD units are just collecting dust due to upgrading to 9 cluster GOD units. I have a Critical 2.0 Scrogged coming to end of 2nd week of flower. Grown under my trusty 1000w hps cool tube. But now I've added 3x GOD units as extra lighting!!

1.Do you reckon it is too much light?My temp is consitant at 74'F an RH 55% with the extra light!

2. Will I benefit from adding the extra light?

3. Will I need to feed her more now with extra light? At present she eats 6L twice a day.

Appreciate the input if any!! Stay lifted guys

If you can hade the electricity costs, extra light is always a good idea.

your plants will tell you if they are getting too much light. growth will slow down as plants shut down to protect themselves from excessive light. leds can burn plants if they are too close put the only way to answer your question is to run the test. every grow room and every strain is different

Plants can use way more than we think. The limitations are generally CO2 levels and nutrient strengths. New studies have shown lettuce can use 5000 umol/m2 wut proper CO2 levels and enviroment.

The question is whether the extra energy provides additional benefit and if so, what the return is.

More importantly is uniformity. With artificial lighting, we are trying to mimic the sun for intensity. The sun provides uniform light to all areas of the plant whereas with artificial lighting uniformity of light greater than the intensity for optimal photosynthesis is fairly short, reaching only the top areas of a plant. We try to increase the effective range of the light source by increasing radiant power, however we would be better to distribute the light as discrete sources to gain more coverage of the plant.

Photosynthesis peaks out efficiency wise at ~510 umoles. It can still absorb more but there just isn't an improvement with more light. Sure you can change environmental factors such as temperature, air pressure and available gases but even those will have limitations.

Smashing the top of the plant with excessive light works because the plant can absorb it. Any light that gets through will be absorbed by lower areas of the plant however it will be of significantly less intensity. Reducing the amount of light from the top to an optimal level for photosynthesis and redistributing those light sources to expose other areas of the plant to optimal light levels will provide a great benefit than increasing power from the top.

In summary:

Bubblewrap your plant in warm, gentle light for best results.

+1 on that.
I think a major advantage of LED is the option to create a much more evenly lit canopy. I have a 30x36 cabinet with 16 cobs as perimeter lighting and nothing in the middle. My light levels vary less than 5% across the entire canopy. No way you can get that with a single bulb.
