I did it with Jacks!

Just celebrating using only 1, 1.5lb tub of Jack's Citrus over 2 full grows of 6 plants. (so 12 plants brought to flower but also 2 mothers) I do add epson, and a pinch of potassium sulfate during flower but overall the cost of my nutes per grow was < $8. So $8 to produce just over 20 zips per grow. (I am being a bit presumptuous about the current grow, but it looks just as productive (if not more so) than the last.

Look for aquagold finisher for flower it has 9% sulfur..... I use citrus blend for veg and aquagold finisher for flower along with molasses, cal mag, roots exceleratour through the course....
Been waiting for the finisher to appear in the small tub or the 3lb one. I do add myco to root surface area and as whatever I give then seems to have enough calcium, the epsom replaces the overpriced calmag products. I have always figured that molasses would not help me in peat.

Never know unless u try my friend...I didn't kno about sulfur until Rm3 informed me which is why I switched to aquagold and citrus feed, I kno the big bag of aquagold is like 45 bucks but think how long it will last so I bit the bullet

Could you use that in conjunction with bloom booster or their tomato feed? I like the higher K during later flower and a little citrus just for the sulfur

Hey Chorse, I'm a brand new convert to Jacks, as in just bought it for my current grow but haven't used it yet (although I will start end of this week after the final transplant to their permanent containers). So can I ask why you chose the Citrus over the Classic & Calcium Nitrate? I haven't run across any threads that promoted it, but then I haven't done an exhaustive amount of research.

I've been planning on changing from my old standard of the GH FloraNova line up, which has been good to me, but I'm also tired of paying for water and the extra shipping as well as limited shelf live (compared to powders that is).

I'm currently running a modified Hempy medium, (modified by adding 25% organics including worm castings, compost and bio-char) and also planning on using Epsom salt, Jacks Blossom Booster, silica, kelp extract, fulvic acid, molasses, GH's Subcultures M&B and BAP.

So, not sure how much xp you have with Jacks, but I'm hoping these amendments will work well, I don't see that I'm over lapping much as every suppliment I'm adding has a specific purpose. Also looking forward to hearing your smoke report and how the potency came out, your girls look nice and healthy sure enough ;?)

The main reason was reading about mycorrhizae use years ago and learned that high level of P can be detrimental to the beneficial fungus. Even a standard Jack's 20-20-20 applied at a tsp per gallon was higher than what the fungus thrived at. Seems low but when you start pushing 90ppm, you are missing out on a pretty fantastic relationship between the plant and these fungi. The "Citrus" cuts the P back just enough that feeding at a 1/2 tsp per gallon is a sweet spot. It also has additional sulfur, I believe. Now sulfur at some level is bad for microbes I think...but I am in peat so microbes are not really my concern. The sulfur is another relationship thing as I swear it increases frost especially if you give if a little more UV. Sorry you asked? :)

I chopped this weekend...should have posted the pics here...but instead of duplicating, you can see them here...

Gooy, stinky, goodness and I know how it will smoke...it is great. I nice graduated high. A pinch hit here an again and you keep working in the barn with a smile...bogart a joint if you want to fall a sleep in front of the football game.

Potassium Sulfate is a 0-0-50

if ya gonna use the bloom just once in week 5 or 6

Tomato feed is ok for veg, great for outdoor plants

Good luck with all that nonsense , of which none is needed for good potent herb

@fearnoevil,
I have to agree with RM3 here and would have said something but my balls are not as large as his. ;)
Seems like first you should make the decision to be organic or not. Mixing all that stuff together and you are just guessing and hoping.

I agree with this. Growing "semi-organic" can be done, but it's tricky. You are better off going 100% organic or 100% synthetic. If your soil mix is dialed in, organic is easier. Synthetic growing gives you total control and plants respond very quickly to nute changes.
I like em both.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the info, and I appreciate where you're coming from, but I have reasons for using the above, and as I said, each has it's purpose.

Starting off, I've used Hempy mix for the past 4 years and I really love the DTW as opposed to a circulating rez as there's never any need to control PPM or rez temps or worry about spreading disease etc. The reason I started to add some organics was because I wanted the medium to have some ability to retain nutrients because I've found that switching between feeding nutes and then straight H2o greatly reduces the chance of nute burn, and a side benefit is less $$ down the drain. It still retains most of the benefits of classic Hempy, still fairly quick response to nute changes and flushes much quicker than straight soil, it really works quite well actually.

As for the other stuff, here's my rational:
1) Silica - AKA silicon, used in building framework for cells, known to build stronger branches/stalks, helps to balance the uptake of several other nutrients, helps plants immune systems (fighting pathogens and fungal infections), aids in recovery from stress and more.

2) Kelp extract & fulvic acid - Kelp is a great source of micronutrients, enzymes, amino acids and hormones. While I've used it as a part of my feeding regimen over the years, recently my research shows that foliar application of kelp extract and fulvic acid boosts clone viability as well as helping mother plants bounce back post-surgery.

3) GH's Subcultures M&B - Beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae are well documented in helping nutrient uptake as well as helping plants resist pathogens. My favorite is B. subtilis (found in GH Subculture B) which form rough biofilms (dense communities) that are beneficial for the control of plant pathogens, and I have used this to combat leaf blight with great success.

4) Molasses - Largely used to feed the bennies, it's also a source of carbohydrates and trace minerals.

5) BAP - AKA 6-Benzylaminopurine, this hormone promotes branching, increases flowering and aids in resistance to disease, drought, cold and high salt levels. This is only applied two or three times at specific stages of plant growth.

Here's some pics from some recent grows ;?)

Last harvest was just under 3 lbs from 6 plants, but I vegged them for almost 3 months, (out of necessity due to scheduling conflicts) so they were some unwieldy monsters, lol. Sadly no pics cuz I took all videos, but some day when I have time, I'll try and pull some stills from that one ;?)

I don't see 8 zips of dry flower coming from any of those plants. Me thinks you exaggerate like a fisherman! :bigjoint:

If you read the last sentence, you see I dont have any pics of the final stages from that last grow, just video. I have to figure out how to extrct stills somehow. These pics are from two previous grows. Also, as I stated, I ended up vegging those six plants for the better part of 3 months. When I transplanted them I had to lay them on their sides, ended up with 6+ foot monsters, and I never exaggerate, total harvest was 2 pounds 10.5 ounces.

EDIT: The strain was Incredible Bulk btw, which I will say was the reason I hit that weight, they were, WITHOUT A DOUBT the densest buds I've ever grown, hard ass nugs which were both a blessing and a curse, cuz as you can guess, I had a run in with mold:cuss:right at the end of that grow. In fact during the chop, I had to cut out over 2 ounces of infected bud, so it would've topped three elbows. Overall the smoke was very nice, great pain and sleep meds, but I hate dealing with mold problems, so until I can get an industrial strength dehumidifier, I don't think I'll be growing that strain for a while. Now I'll stop hijacking the OP's thread

When I use pure Jacks Tomatoe feed I get zinc deficiency problems. Have you tried 1/4 teaspoon of citrus mixed with 1/4 teaspoon Tomatoe?
