I am at a loss

germination of seeds seems to be another 30 - 50%. Bought from seed banks.
There couldn't be a more sterile environment for sprouting them in each time.
Moist paper towel. Boiled rain water.
In a cupboard 30%, in the light 30%. Straight water then soil 30%
Tried direct soil sewing. That was the 50%
Variouse locations, hours apart.
Before I buy a crap load off a private party after Xmas- I was wondering if it is simply the 12 working days in the mail that is killing me?
I do crap tonnes of gardening and can germinate anything from citrus tree's to onions lettuce and carrots at 90%. What the hell is my problem? haha
I mean if half come up I have done everything right I figure. Depth moisture and temp is good. I can find the seeds even 3 weeks after planting they just arnt doing anything and then eventually they go rotten. So are they just ruined from the mail or what?

It could be your seed stock if you have only tried 1 strain from 1 vendor or it could be you. What specific seeds are you using? What vendor? What is the temp and humidity of your germination area?

Not sure what the problem is. I use indirect heat (heating pad) or electric blanket to keep my seeds warm (85-90f) and if the seeds are viable, they always germinate this way. I once did an experiment to see just how helpful a warm environment is when sprouting seeds. I put a handful of old bag-seeds into a large pot, watered and left them in a WARM, dark environment. I actually forgot about them for about 5 days and when I checked them, I had a SHITLOAD of sprouts. They were lacking light, so I re-potted them and put them under a lamp. I had way more seedlings than I needed, so I gave some away. Try keeping them consistently warm, in addition to what you are already doing. I've put them on top of my water-heater, and had many germinate in a short period of time. You can also try adding Hydrogen Peroxide to your water. This has also worked well for me. I Highly advise germinating them before planting because it's easier that way (imo). When the taproots are 1/2" long, plant them into your medium and you should see sprouts in a few days :leaf:

My method has never failed me once in ten years even with 5 + yr. old beans. Drop seeds in a shot glass full of bottled water for 12 - 24 hrs. Check them in 12 hours, push the floating seed under water with your finger once and if it sinks its ready. If it floats leave it for another 6-12 hrs. Once they sink they are ready to be poured out onto a soft paper towel (I cut those big paper towels from the roll in quarter pieces). Pour the rest of the water on them so they are moist and then fold over paper towel - once or twice. Now place in a sandwich baggie and stretch open the opening of the bag so it gets a lil air flow. I label each baggie with a strain name as I do it. Now place them on a paper plate in a semi-warm spot, like by your refrigerator in a drawer or maybe in your entertainment center where the cable box is warm. In about 2-3 days your seeds should start popping out a tap root. As soon as they do - do the party cup thing and put your cracked seed in it. From there transplant.. once or twice.. anyone's preference...

I'll throw in my 2 cents. I used to do the paper towel method at about 50% or slightly better. I switched to just putting them in the dirt and keeping moist in a warm area. 100%. Don't over complicate it. its just seeds. They know what to do.

Start in a cup of water. When the seeds crack and the tale just starts to show take em from water and put em in dirt, usually 24/48 hours. This very rarely fails me. If it does fail it's because I over watered the seeds once they hit the dirt and drowned them.

sounds to me like you are watering too much, and they are damping off.
