Do you need to use calmag with ro water?

Is 300-400 ppm OK for 7 inch plant , early stage of veg?

How to fix clawing at the tips of plant?

Do I leave my pump and chiller running at night or can i shut it off until lights on?

When plants drink up water and nutes, do I top with plain water or water and nutes?

If I top with nutes and water how do I raise it just a little, do I add more poms then original or less?

-Yes. RO water doesnt contain cal/mag. Most 3 part nutrient lines cover this for basics though. You can always add if needed on top of a 3 part nute line.

Since you are using RO water, this means that ppm number is all from your additions(nutes/cal/mag boost etc.)
If you have good roots established and 4-5 nodes then it should be good at that ppm. If the leaf tips begin to yellow...dial the nutes back.

How to fix clawing at the tips of plant?

Clawing is usually one result of too much N and is usually seen along with dark green leaves. Be sure not to mistake wilt or droop for "claw".
Cut back on the nitrogen (grow/veg nutrient)

I dont have much experience in this area since I'm not a summer time grower, but would imagine it to be controlled by a thermostat?
It should cut off when the desired temp is reached. Not sure what kind of chiller you have so....

You have to monitor how much nutrient it is taking up with the water. If it isnt taking up nutrients with the water(which is evident in ppm spikes) then you dont want to add back anything but water since thats all the plant is using.

This goes with the last question as well. If the plants are calling for more nutrients and water, then you mix just what was taken by figuring out your measurements per gallon and how many gallons are used from the res that you will be replacing.

Dude...that was the best response ever.. thanks man...alot...your spot on with it all...especially the fact that 2 of my plants do have darker green leaves, and they are curling up, but the other plants are taking the nutes pretty good, just seem to be turning yellow a Lil bit, could that be from not using calmag??yesterday I dumped my water and started with fresh plain or water phd. I'm running that for 24 hrs to help kinda flush out the issues I was having...then I'm gonna start fresh with like 300 ppm...and calmag...I think I wasn't micing the nutes properly as the bottled described. ..I was kinda of just eye in everything, so I feel like it wasn't getting the proper formula

Def gotta get a shot glass measuring cup and take notes of what you feed and when. Then once you get it dialed in its easy peasy from then on. I also run about 1/2 strength of what most nute companies suggest. Its hydroponics.....you can always add right?

I'm using 1/10 hp aqua chiller, and the carbon filter I got from virtual sun hydroponics. .pretty big in size
Active Aqua from HydroFarm? Eggshell white color? I use the Ecoplus 1/10hp. The model before they started assembly in China. I got lucky.20160811_154611.jpgI sure hope once you get a few weeks in to flower, that cheap-o carbon filter does the job man. They usually just suck so much ass. Look into Phresh, Phat, Mountain Air, RhinoPro, or CAN filters.

So what size is it exactly? Mine are 6"x20".

The ones in the gray? tote are def feeding differently from each other. I can see the claw on some of the fatter indica looking ones. Cant tell color so well under the hps.
Overall they all look good, but now you know you may need to dial back a tad on the nutes for that tote. The other tote seems to be handling the nutes well. Roots are looking nice and clean & healthy.

Awesome news!!! Yes a few was clawing, that's why I dumped the water n nutes and did 24 hrs straight water ph'd. The 2 in the back that are flowering are in soil. They are autos. Speaking of those, I used miracle grow, which I regret but too late now. We'll going in to flower I could tell they were turning a Lil yellow. So I gave them nutes, but too much. The run off on one was 1800 and the other 1400..so I flushed them down to about 600 for one and 800 for the other. I don't think I have really good drainage so i poked holes all around the pot . Hopefully that helps..what should my ppm be for the autos starting to flower.

Miracle gro is FULL OF nutrients already. Why would you ever give them more? Lol. But ppms are same on soil but just a tad higher. 700-1100.

That's about the size of mine. I have my set up a Lil different tho. I did have ducting hooked to ac..vent in ceiling pulling that cold air through the duct cooling the light, then the ducting goes through the wall into the carbon filter in a nother room. But the room seem to not be getting rid of hot stale air..so I unhooked it from a vent and now I have a coming into room and exhaust fan sucking hot air out sending it into the other room through the carbon filter.

Because my last grow I used mg..and right before it went into flower all the leaves started turning bright yellow, so I figured at that time the nuts must be running out. But it didn't make since because the bag say's it feeds up to 6 months

Man our setups are very similar. I pull cold air in to my tent from my ceiling ac vent room haha. But I vent my air through a filter and out of the room to the rest of the downstairs.
