Hydrangea

Ok, I'm sure someone has posted this before, but I didnt see it. So I'm interested in the use of Hydrangea. A lot say it has cyanide in it. And I only have one account of a person actually trying it(smoked a blunts worth) and said it was chill. It has medicinal uses, but that doesnt mean it has no poisonous cyanide. I was thinking of a drying method(naturally over time), because I read that cyanide breaks down over time. I guess I just want to see if anyone on RIU has tried smoking this plant, and if so, how did you go about doing it.

Yea I've known about it for a while, couldnt get any info on it, then moved on. Now I'm back to the thought of it. It supposedly gives effects close to an Indica herb. The problem is that no one has done it, so it's hard to trust it. Although its used as a herbal medecine all the time, so I was starting to think its not AS harmful as some speculate it to be. But I as well as many others know that that doesn't mean shit.

I could blindly try it, I mean after all I'm the one who smoked the black widow hahaha. Everyone thought I was crazy for doing that and it was no big deal.

black widow?

Lol yea it was about a year ago I think, I always heard you could smoke a black widow and get high or some shit. Did it, and it worked. I posted the info on here and people went crazy with insults haha it was funny.

But if you read cyanide breaks down over time, then go ahead and try it out. Now don't blame me for uncool stuff that happens to you but you could get some nice experience out of it .

I would search about cyanide and how it's affected as times goes on before I try it.

Lol Yea read it in a forum so, idk how trustworthy it is but yea Ill look that up and come back if I cant find anything.

Ok heres the scoop.
The plant doesn't contain cyanide, it contains amygdalin which can be broken down into hydrogen cyanide, which is poisonous. I'm guessing this is what is meant on Errowid, when it says when burnt it creates cyanide. Although I wasn't able to find anything saying that burning amygdalin breaks it down into hydrogen cyanide. Only through other processes, but idk. Need a chemist dammit >_<!!!

Can't believe I'm quoting wikipedia but "A hydrogen cyanide concentration of 300 mg/m3 in air will kill a human within about 10 minutes" It also said something that caught my eye. Wiki states that HCN(Hydrogen Cyanide) is present in tobacco. Now I smoke tobacco and after reading that I'm kinda feeling a little safer, but then again Wiki isnt the most trustworthy source.

I dont know anything about it but I would think its not worth the risk until you know whether or not it will turn into cyanide and whether or not itll be harmful to you...

You could just try smokin some weed, that should get you high. Why would you want to smoke hydrangea? IMO Fuck that. No offense dude....

Kids will put anything in their mouths.... when I was single and on the prowl, I always chased women that smoked cig's... same principle.

Lol it's not about getting high. Its about learning and studying, then the knowledge is rewarded by the plant's effect, and during the effects its more knowledge =)
If it was a stupid kid thing just trying to get a high, i would not even care about it and go be popping pills or some shit, and wouldnt even care to learn about anything but the effects of the high.

I wouldn't try it man.. google this: prussic acid. It's pretty toxic, I'd make sure 100% it won't hurt you before you try this.

If you're going to smoke something that might produce hydrogen cyanide, I'd suggest you take a precautionary measure - sugar. Sugar is the antidote to cyanide. This is why eating orange seeds and apple seeds don't hurt you - the natural sugars neutralize cyanide.

uh.. can you show me a reference showing sugar is an antidote to cyanide poisoning? The reason apple seeds don't hurt you is because the amount of cyanide and arsenic are negligible. Unless you sit around eating solely apple seeds all day, they shouldn't hurt you.

So little is known so it might be a good idea to smoke it? By all means make your determination from a public forum...
