Just announced, genetic reason WHY hybrid vigor works and how to manipulate it for the express pourpose of suppressing the hormone that shuts down flower production once fruiting occurs resulting in a large increase of flowers. Ladies and gentelmen, welcome to the future. Now have All plants been tested? No but- the best results have been from tomatoes and it looks promising.
"A mutation in the hormone that controls flowering postpones when a plant stops producing flowers, yielding many more fruits. They found that bushy plants with a mutation in one of the two copies of the florigen gene, producing half as much florigen as plants without the mutation do, postpone the moment when they stop producing flowers. This, in turn, leads to many more fruits overall. "This is because," Lippman explains, "bushy tomato varieties are highly sensitive to the amount, or dosage, of the florigen hormone, which alters plant architecture – that is, how many flowers can form before growth ends. These discoveries lead to an exciting prediction: that it may be possible to tweak florigen levels to increase yields even further." ".
I know, we have no florigen at the corner store. Yet some of you grad school types....no but seriously it a gene mod but a darn subtle one and not to bind with other plant genes or pestcides so I'm kinda ok w it. I think someday soon, someone with deep enough pockets could introduce such seeds. Also the way the influence occurs is not discussed i bet some people would know various protocols for that kind of work lol.Jeeze when i see all these stoners working homemade co2, fem seed production and doing hybrid work that would do Linus proud and more than a few w out a single biology, chem, plant pathology course never mind the electrical work I've seen done here and elsewhere.
I envision a diploid example, like we see in the super sized heffords and brahmin. (Off topic here, used to own bulls and cows of hybrid bramins. Fuckin h u g e. I'd stand on the planks three feet off the ground working a chute in a corral to inspect the herd. Yeah I'm six three and some humps n horns were mid chest.) Anyhow, not you practical guide to F1 glory but I'm always the guy looking for what's next. Peace.

I quite enjoy the highgrades that are around right now and see no reason to modify a gene to get more yield. I like it natural but grown indoor :eyesmoke:

In my opinion, in all fields of agriculture, any time you try to push it to a level nature didnt intend to, you lose on quality. The only thing I care about is quality.

Cool stuff though thanks for posting!
