Okay this isn't the first grow with this light it a i power 400w hps. However I redid my grow room and my temperature staying right around 86° However were still in winter so when summer comes around the room temp is going to rise. Any links or suggestions on how to create a cool tube for this light without having to spend another hundred dollars on a new shield?? It is a closet grow so there's not much ventilation if I just run vents out to the closet do you think that would be enough to get to heat down??? Help asap my seedlings hate the heat

You asked about your current situation so I was answering that.

In a few months, get sealed hoods or switch to led or get ac.

?? You have time to figure it out. You don't have to buy hoods to put up CFLs. There's no other way to get rid of heat aside from sealed hoods or ac.

I live in australia and I used to do this with my open hooded 400w 2 fans one blow straight on the plants and one straight on the hps used to get around max temp of 33 degrees Celsius that's 91 f

Also venting out will help heaps if u have passive intake low and exhaust high
I have seedling now under a 600w mh bulb and no worries temps about same as yours
Make sure u mist lots and they should love 86 degrees

Also I run light on at night and set timer to turn light off for 6 hours during the hottest part of the day
9 am till 3 pm here's a pic of my 400w setupimage.jpg
Fans only small it ona system I made to raise and lower but 86 is a fine heat for seedling I put 1 day old seedling straight under a 600w light now and get temps as high as 91 f
I mist heaps spray plants spray wall of tent spray everywhere lol to keep humidity high
Here's a few pics of my little girls Iam growing ATM image.jpgimage.jpg as u can see there booming tho the secret to plants under a high temp is large pot so roots don't get 2 hot keep roots cooler and they be fine why plant straight into large pots from the word go

It's always better to invest the money, it will save you time and money in the long run. If you cheap out on a inline fan your temp can kill/burn your plants, bringing you a whole set of new problems. Make sure you have a good fan in there circulating air flow all around, it will help you plants get stronger and drop the temps a lil lower. Now a days you can get an inline fan with a carbon filter on amazon for 140$, and it can last you a long time. And the fans is a must buy as well if you're doing a closet grow with high intesity lights. Even 1 decent fan will do you great. Goodluck yo!
