Hps/Mh Lights

Hey guys, been really interested lately about growing with a 600 watt hps and a 400 watt mh at the same time instead of just my 1000 watt hps. I heard this is alot better for the plants because it covers all the spectrums which makes sense I am just having a hell of a time finding these lights. Do they come pre build and ready to go or would I have to make my own?

I guess I should have added... There are a few pre-made dual bulb hoods... You just buy ballasts without hoods and install them yourself.

I'm only suggesting dual 1k for personal grows... It doesn't make sense to do any of this for commercial grows, but if a commercial grower did want this full spectrum effect he would use multiple 400w pulse start halides. They beat the efficiency of HPS and have a broader spectrum than both hps and halide combined.
It would only work for a flat garden in a SOG since 400's don't have massive penetration, so that limits it's efficiency too.

They are not available in larger sizes yet.

well i would love to but I'm trying to keep my opp at a max of 1000 watts, I think I remember seeing someone rig up a cooltube so it had 600 watt hps on one side and 400 watt mh on the other. Anyways anyone else got some knowledge to throw at me?

yea I was lookin at the pulse starts and they looked pretty sweet, the only problem is that they only go up to 400's like you were saying. would love to just have a 1000 watt one of those.

i did the same thing, 600 hps and 430 sonagro, the problem with the dual lamp hoods is efficency, your better off with 2 hoods, with the dual hoods what happens is a lot o flight gets trapped, the closer the bulb is to the reflective side the more light gets reflected down, plus with 2 hoods your points of light are farther apart so you get more light to more parts of the plant, i was looking at the hydrofarm grozilla at first but its not the way to go unless your severly limited on space

Check Out Sun System Vii its one ballast two lights your choice of 800watts or 1000watts, i myself got me a 800watter (400hps/400mh) runs great, but haven't really used it in a full grow, still teakin my box.

nah im lookin for the hps/mh ones not just the metal halide.
You missed something there... He has just shown us that pulse start halides are out in the 1kw size... Go look again, this is by far the best option way better than any of the hybrid bulbs.

I was not aware they were out yet. I'm going to go start a thread on them and see if we can't get some comparisons going.
