i wanna know wat everyones doin to germinate and wat u think the best way is, wat do u have the most success with.
i have some rockwool cubes and a cd spindle propigator, but i dont think its workin, its heaps humid in there cos the walls are wet, but i dont think its cracked after about 4 days. so i wanna know wat works for u.
 
i germinate by wrapping my seeds in damp paper towels, then i place the paper towel in a plastic bag and blow it up with my own C02, and place it in a drawer. i have a 90% germ rate i would say higher but you never know with some seeds.

for the first transplant i place the sprouted seed into a roto rooter or sometimes directly into a dixie cup with miracle grow potting soil, water with well water, and use a 175 watt mh on a 24 hr light cycle

once my plants take on and outgrow the dixie cups, i transfer to 5 gallon buckets with coco-coir and perlite.

very nice results, lost my camera so i dont have pics.

do u feel coco coir is more work? i wanna try it for my lemon g.


the way i germ is take a saucer and put a few paper towels on it. then spray it down, put seeds on...top with few more paper towels..spray...then i take a freezer bag and spray inside of that...i put in somewhere (warm)...they usually pop within 3 days, nice long tap roots.
 
cool, wat about ur way, but withou paper towel i go with sum rockwool cubes?
thats probably the same as my cd spindle propagator tho.
 
lol i just watched a video because i had no clue what you were talking about (cd spindle propagator) its a slightly different method, but i guess thats effective.
 
i've never done hydro so i dont ever buy rockwool and since i dont have any personal experience using it i cant compare rockwool and roto rooter plugs. i would assume they are similar however.
 
aww sweet as, i just checked my spindle and i peeked in and shes open, so when im ready to start ill use both of these methods.
 
i just take 2 saucers and a damp paper towel place the seeds in it and above my stove light and wait till about the day after or 2 days sometime but i at 100% germ rate. i mean as long as they germ then do it how it workks 4 u
 
Just get some good soil, put it in a plastic dixie cup, water, plant seed, wait for it to sprout, usually three days. You don't touch the seed which causes less stress to the plant, it's the best way to do it as far as I'm concerned.
 
well i like to know that the seed will crack and sprout (havent had one not yet) but many seed banks come out bad so i like to know b4 i start
 
i place my seeds in the middle if some humid papper towels and stick the towels in a sip lock bag,close the bag and place it under a CFL and chek every day until it sprouts,ive had very succsesfull germination rate.

It takes three days my way, I can wait that long.

The paper towel method takes a day or two for it to crack, then you plant it and takes 3 - 5 waiting to see if you killed it or not playing around with the tap root.

I know the paper towel methos is pretty common but still feel just planting it from the start is the best way to go, what other plant do you see started with the paper towel method ? It's just impatience is all it is.
