A friend of mine is building a 8ftx8ftx8ft flowering room in a walk in closet that will have 2x1000 watters with cool tube reflectors. My question is what is the best way you recommend he vent the room?

Thanks and all input is appreciated

If it's upstairs cut a hole in the ceiling and vent into the attic
It is upstairs but he wont be able to cut a hole up to the attic.. however, he was thinking of buying a new door for the closet and cutting two holes of maybe three. one for intake, one for exhaust and carbon filter, and the last for a fan to cool the lights. hows does that sound? he is just trying to buy the least amount of fans he has to in order to save some money as expenses for this project are getting expensive. Thanks again

Lol, sure, ur "Friend" is growing it..
Well, tell ur friend that he should vent his lights into his roof, or discreetly outside the house thru the roof via some nice lightweight ducting. No carbon filter is required since the air is not mixing in the grow room. This is hooked up to the same timer as the lights.
This should control heat in the grow room, so just a simple thermostat to hook upto his outake vent with a carbon filter that will kick in when the temp gets too high. Vent anywhere that is away from ur intake.

Yeah you can always cut holes in the door itself just make sure you use some PVC or other material you can make an elbow with so light doesn't get in.

yea my experience is that venting out the top of a gro sho is best i find an area that i can cut and hook up my 6 inch squirrel cage then i run a 6 inch duct to a vent in an attic
he unfortunately cannot vent to the attic.. he only has the walk in closet and the master bathroom and master bedroom area to work with when it comes to venting the room. does anyone have any ideas? sorry for being so difficult..

y cant he vent to the attic? if its a walk in closet he should have some sort of ceiling light fixture. if he is just worried about creating damages and worrying about landlord he could take that light fixture out and their should be a nice 3" hole already made for him... just a thought but it does work in almost all situations. good luck with the design though.

That sounds like a good idea. Ill look into it.

Does anyone else have any ideas? I was thinking 3 separate holes in the door to the walk in closet, if venting to the attic isnt an option, which i dont think it will be. One near the bottom of the door for intake. One sucking air out to cool the lights in cool tubes (or should the light be blowing cool air onto them), and also one for exhaust with carbon filter to eliminate odor and to exhaust hot air.

How does this sound? And does anyone have any suggestions on what type of fans to get for each. Or how many cfm's you think each fan should put out? Thanks for all the replies.
