How to Use an Industrial Low Bay Light Fixture?

Had I been into this 5 years ago, I could have had about 50 of these, my company got rid of them for flourescent too. damn.....

i have been meaning to work on this thread some more but i was also thinking about starting a new one so people could click the pics for a larger view. i don't know why it stopped working, i think it was when the site was upgraded.

I did chapter 1 to the tee,All I get is a quite hum,no flicking and after 20-mins not starting up.No dusk to dawn sensor.Or any other sensor.All wires are right black to 120-v transformer,white to common & green to ground all tight connection.I have a H.I.D. 400-watt low bay fixture.125-v 14-guage 15-amp plug,20-amp breaker.Starting to think I have a bad transformer,cap,or bulb. But I don't know???Need some help please????
Will swith to digital ballast when I can.Thank you Smoke & Coke for all the lil details!!

can you throw up some pics of the light and nameplate data off the side?

have you tried a known good bulb of the correct type and wattage? is it mh or hps?

make sure you have good power supplied to the light, all connections are good, even at the socket, wired correctly and the bulb is good, after that it really isn't cost effective to repair a lowbay fixture for a grow unless you have spare parts already. you can usually find a used fixture for cheaper than a rebuild kit to repair a bad one.

if you still need help repairing it let me know, i will try and help. pics of the wires and connections will help.
