how to pollinate successfully? can i mix strains

hi,

basically i'm looking to grow a few seeds for my next grow. i have 3 females, 2 ak-48 and 1 hindu kush.

my AK-48 are nearly done but the hindu kush will need a bit longer. can i use one of my male ak's to pollinate her?

if so what's the best methoid?

The best method depends on how you want to do it.

You can collect the pollen and then get a small paint brush and put it on one or two buds and just get some seeds from a couple of buds.

You can collect the pollen in a small jar and when the females are ready just toss the pollen in the air so it goes everywhere and pollinate the whole plant and get 1000's of seeds.

You can keep the plants in the same room and get the same results as above.

Also it seems like a month is about as long as you can keep pollen without it getting moldy. You may also try to freeze it after collecting to make it last longer.

yes! i've bought an ounce of weed before that was some commerical mexi-shawg and it had 250+ seeds!!! So if you pollenaited a whole plant... lol.

I've heard that it's possible to get that many from a whole plant before. On my first grow (Northern Lights X Hawaiian) only one male and one female survived. I just let them pollinate by shaking the male around a bit, nothing sophisticated. I ended up with about 200 mature seeds.

Yep, mix what you want, how do you think they get the new strain of the week everywhere. Make some AK Berry, how cool would that be ? Blue Chronic anyone ? Blue Ice ? Chronic Berry ? Blue Bubblegum ?

It's probably a little late to pollinate now. You should give the seeds at least 30 days to mature. I still get some immature seeds after 6 weeks - but there's lots more good seeds.

Is there an ideal time to pollinate the female, or just once she is budding, and still has atleast 6 weeks left till harvest?

I was kind of waiting for a real "breeder" to chime in. I am NOT that experienced but here goes. In broad strokes: In the short run ((F1) it's pretty straight forward (well, moreso than F2) you do your cross and about half to most will come out as averages in between the mom and dad. But In the long run (F2) Thing get WAY more complicated as some recessive traits "disappear" (they are really there but non active) and some Dominant traits "double up". most of the time there are so many traits to keep track of it VERY hard to breed out bad traits or breed in good. That is Unless you have LOTS of moms and dads. That doesn't even bring up the trouble of determining what budding traits your MALES carry..

But I'm giving it a shot

by the way, any high school bio text should have a section on Mendelian genetics. Fuck around with a pundit's square for a while. Then choose traits, you need to breed for a while before it becomes clear which are dom and which are rec traits.

Or, just take your favorite mom and clone the shit out of her
