How to make dense buds

from personal experiance, i've grown many different types of non-commercial strains. and fround bud quality to be vastly different from 1 time to the next, my advice is find an easy strain that requires no pruning for maximum effect (unless you know how) then just add nutes. if lights fans and water are ok you should have a good thing going. but if you start with a shit strain your gonna get shit buds... FULL STOP....

solution is to buy 10 seeds of the strain you want, flower em all, and clone 1 bud to make a mother plant out of the best quality plant, then you've already picked the plant that grows best in your environment.

thats prolly the stupidest thing you could do!?!?!?! Ive seen tons of plants looked like complete fails during flowering and by 2 months they were the bested. I would suggest cloning 2-3 clones from each plant and as they grow in a dixi your flowering will start to come to an end and while it might be a lot of plants it does help to find the truely best mother.

There has to be a part of it attributed to genetics. I have three strains at the moment, two of which are ripening pretty soon and they have a big difference in bud structure and density. My White Rhino x Dutch Treat is more mature (50% red hair) and is much more fluffier than my Vanilla Kush. Even within the same strain, some genomes are differrent... all my VK's are not the same... all very dense, but one more leafy than the others, one is getiing darker kinda purple-ish, the other has really hard colas, feel almost dry to the touch, light green with some orange hairs already...

They all had same light, same temperature, humidity, nutrients, grow medium, etc... To me that is some some strong evidence and plain common sense!

Great info Corbat420! You have alot of great knowledge and us newbies sure do need it! I agree that this could be and is a great site, with all of the experienced growers and the newbies that need their help. Keep the knowledge flowing and great job!! Thanks, rookie13

You want to get the Infos right, corbat420? Denseness is most importantly genetics, woodsmaneh! is on point with that one.
indica>denser bud structure / golfballs
sativa> airier foxtails / long and elongated

Of course, you have to have basic grow skills. You can make the densest plant look like a spindly wreck and the other way round, but only to a certain extent.
The OPs question is misleading a little in that regard.
There are great tips in this thread regarding what to do, but when you have the basics nailed it soon comes down to genetics and nothing else considering the denseness of the bud..and patience :-P

PS: Sorry for reviving this

Hi nob here. Ak47 is a sativa Dom, and that has some of the most dense bud iv seen(my fav strain) high bud to leaf ratio. I think genetics play a part, but mostly it is the node spacing>>> as some one mentioned!! LIGHTING if people have been privaliaged to grow scrog and lst, equal light with 600w hps over the garden = dense buds. Everything plays a part in to producing nice dense buds.. Or perfection = fat buds lol

I have 5 grows of 7 strains. Ill definitely have to try the molasses. As far as internode spacing, just this last grow (NYCD) I keep my MH bulb in and kept is as close as possible. After the stretch, I switch to HPS. By far the best, tightest nugs grown so far. I trained and such as I learned. Thank you RIU. I need to learn more about the nutrient side
