How to keep buds green

Hey folks I've grown several different strains and for the life of me I can not understand why I always get a golden brownish looking color. How do you get them to keep a nice green looking color to it? Any serious advice would be greatly helpful. Thanks all.

Well as far as lights 600 watt cool tube, typically grow tent 4x4 6ft. tall, dyna grow nutes pro mix soil. Unfortunately no pics and maybe golden isn't the right word to use they just seem to lose that beautiful green color. Honestly I think it has something to do with my cure. I trim, hang, cut, brown bag and jar smells great good high never harsh just lacks the green color

Hydro stays greener than dirt.
I found to keep the buds out of the jar cure helps.

I just posted about golden buds, my cure ended up going for a few months since I didn't smoke it.
A few months is like 6-7 months. If your buds don't smell bad or anything, they ought to be just fine. Hopefully you leave them in dark cool places but again the factors before curing all matter. Tell us what your bus smells like, tastes like and smokes like because of you're looking on color,
You may be hitting some prime pot that folks would love to have smoldering in a piece or paper.

Something I have noticed is the longer the bud is in storage the more green is lost. I am still smoking some Lemon OG that was jarred 14+ months ago. It is now basically gold in color yet still tastes very lemony and has a wonderful high./QUOTE]
Haha yep like drinking a fine whiskey or aged wine.

When your plants are finally done, they should be reminiscent of a beautiful fall day in a deciduous forest. All the wonderful warm hues... yellow to orange and red. There should be some green left on some strains by that point, but if you do it right, youre usually getting golden color because of natural senescence and the trichomes having been turning to amber through degradation. My preference is 60% cloudy 40% amber. These yield kinda cloudy bronze when done right.

Otherwise, genetics. Some plants will only cure a light green, some look almost like dirt brown.

High. Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer (If you did).

Can you please explain why a Sativa would hold it's green longer than an Indica? I've been under the impression for years one of the objectives of 'curing' is to let chlorophyll break down taking harshness and hayish overtones away while letting the desirable terpenes and flavonoid rise up and dominate.

There is a trend lately where fresh cut plants are dried very quickly to keep that bright green. The chlorophyll is still there. These growers are then 'spiking' their flowers with terps and flavonoids to bring up the flavors and scents. I personally see this as 'cheating' the natural process and a bad practice. Terps and other post-cut additives are not well regulated and sourced from many places, including labs. Who knows what you are taking into your body?

With so much growing being done by Organized Crime and Cartels and unscrupulous individuals, I don't trust as safe any flower bright green and stinky. Same goes for concentrates.

Peace and good health.
