How to add nutes - help plz

Hey everyone,

I'm growing indoors, but using soil for the first time, and I'm a little unsure about how to feed my children. In the past, with hydro systems, I just added the nutes to the resivoir, and it got dripped/flooded onto them, and life was good.

So, now that I'm using soil, I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I was planning on adding my nutrients with water and using it to water the plants. Is this the best way to do it? Also, do I water my plants everyday with nutrient/water solution, or more/less than that?

FYI - Im using FoxFarm nutrients, Ocean Forrest Soil, and a 600w light. If anyone can give me any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

yeah just add to water

start out with 1/4 of what the instructions say

don't feed seedlings, good till 3rd or 4th week in FF soil

switch to bloom food during flower

Good Luck

No, most folks will follow a schedule like

water, water, nutes, water, water, nutes

I like to just watch the plant and feed it when it needs it

I advise watch em and learn what they want it makes it so much easier

what exacly does the nutes do between like if you just were to use straight water?????
if our talking about water, water, nutes, water, water, it gives the plant time to use all of the nutes up, some it doesn't get overloaded and cause nute lock-out. Most go water, nute, water, nute.

You will have to add nutes as most soils don't have enough nutes to supply plant through the growth cycle.

Think of it like - you are given plenty of water, but no real meals! You might find the occaisional crumb here or there, just whatever you find lieing around. Poor nutrition is pretty much the same for plants as it is for people. EAT FOOD - GROW STRONG!

Poor soil is low in nutrients, so the plants grow at a disadvantage!

i was kinda wondering this also. do nutes make the difference between good and better bud?
Yes, they do! A plant, or any other organism, can only live up to it's full potential if it is well nourished and healthy. It might effect the amount of bud moreso than the potency, but it will make a difference!

Riddleme,

What about when you are starting out with clones that have just been transplanted into fox farm soil with a 4 week vegetative cycle in mind? Do you still start out with a 1/4 strength nute solution and build up, or do you go with what the fox farm schedule calls for? The person I get my clones from follows the fox farm schedule completely, so shouldn't they already be used to the same nute concentration?

This is a very nice thread question, I just recently switched from hydro to soil and I was planning on starting a thread like this to find out the best ways to add nutrients to the soil.

Is there any thread on here that goes through everything you need to do to care for a soil grow?

I see tons of info on hydro, but nothing specifically to soil.
