Hey guys, I am starting a grow now, I have like 400-500 clones going. I am veg em alittle more and double the clone amount. Anywho, after running some numbers my initial estimate of 12 1000w hps systems soil grow etc just is going to yield what i want in the perpetual harvest. I want to go up to about 21- 24 1000w hps systems. That would put my bill at about 460 bucks a months. Do you think that would draw suspicion. I am trying not to get caught. But if i do penalties are that bad. My last house with three roomates, big screen tvs and such electric was about 300 - 325. If i pay my electric bill do you think, ill get hasseled. Most of the grow will be in the basement. I wont be having a tv or anything on ever, just maybe the light in the room im in on to read or something. Can i pull it off. WOuld it be wise to call electric company and tell them that I am switching to electric heat and ask them blah blah blah how much its gonna raise my bill and so on just curious. How to do it how to do it. Or am i gonna have to get a another grow house .err

sniff sniff mmm i smell sumfin funny n its not weed but would make a good fertiliser hahaha
so you got 400 - 500 clones that your gonna double to 800 - 1000 and have them all under 24 1000w lights
how big is your basement? im guessin its not as big as your imagination lol
your sayin ull put 4 plants in a 1m square ??? so ur basement must be a 1000m square ???
my personal fav, you hope to get 1.25 pound of 144 plants (if youv got half a brain you could get 15lb+)
ha ha ha i love some of these post,s it keeps me smiling

"come on shut me up" all you gotta do is show pics of your 500 clones an basement!!! (an dont copy em off the net lol)

this thread has been beneficial in the specific talk of experiences growers have had or heard of. But it's plain ludicrous what the original guy is talking about. Funny as heck, try to run 4000 watts for a show and try not getting busted, bit easier.

dude this is just my oppinion but im working on setting up a grow op half of the size you are talking about and i wouldnt do mine in one single location. im gonna be spreading it out between 2 or most likely even 3 different grow houses. you should try to down size it quite a bit at lease when you start and then gradually make it bigger cuz that is def. way to big for one location or even 2 for that matter. but thats my oppionion. trust me start out quite a bit smaller than that and work your way up to where you wanna be. alot of people get caught usually cuz they are too greedy. and id say by the looks of it ur obviously in it for the money. so am i but im willing to make less and work my way up little by little. how often are you planning on harvesting?

12,000 watts is a big draw for the average residential account. And 21K-24K watts is unheard of unless you live in the Clampett Mansion.

HondaVixen is right, the company will almost certainly come and inspect your meter and possibly replace it. But more importantly, they will want to know why such a huge draw is not on a commercial account in your area. Unless you live in Houston where zoning laws don't apply, the power company may alert the city that some sort of light industry is going on in an area zoned residential. Depending on city ordinance, the company may not have a choice.

Something about this does not sound right, however.

I can't explain why exactly, but I can't shake this fishy feeling about someone with six posts asking about such a large grow operation.

We're mainly a bunch of hobby growers and medical patients here.

I grow tomatoes. :-P
i dont have many posts but yet im trying to get a large grow op going. the only difference is i do more reading than asking. i dont think there is anything fishy about it. me and this dude have a couple things in common.... we both seem to love marijuana and we both love money. making money of them is my hobby.

No way he has a 24,000 watt grow in his basement. BULLSHIT!
no thats what he is planning on doing. this thread is him trying to find out if that setup would raise a red flag using so much electricity like that which it would. i say start out way smaller and then gradually add more lights and stuff.

Most of the busts I hear about in MI are power consumption related. If you dont think they are going notice 24 1K watters your out of your damn mind. I think your multiple house idea is the way to go. Then if anything goes wrong you still got half your product to fall back on.
your from michigan??? im from wisconsin. upper michigan or mainland mi?? i was thinking about putting a grow op up in mi.

You know people who are willing to live in a house with 500 plants just for free rent? ...they need better jobs..
i actually have 2 of those kinda friends who will be starting there rent free living hopefully next month. its not that hard. money is hard to come by for alot of people. i know alot of people who are willing to take the risk for a free place to live and a little cash on the side as well. like 10 percent maybe a little more if they are greedy and they know you need them.

Whoever posted that they look into you for owning a couple of houses is out of their mind. I own 8 houses in the same neighborhood in fact their within like .5sq mile of each other. They don't look into shit but lowering my taxes due to revitalizing a neighborhood. The op is also off his rocker. I bought the house I grow in now strictly because it was zoned dual commercial front residential back.
The dude that said to tell them your running a business is right. Tell them your running Internet servers for a gaming network. The consume alot of power and are on 24hrs a day 365 never turning off unless they crash not to mentionthey need to be cooled as well. Just a thought

You are out of your mind thinking that you are under the radar with that kind of grow size! You will for sure be noticed without a doubt...I can guarantee you that they pass some of their "red flags" down to law enforcement...GUARANTEED.

New members popping in and asking how to set up massive grow operations make members a shade nervous.

It's scarcely different from someone with one post looking to score.

Low post counts (like yours, by the way) coupled with unusual questions are red flags around here. Deal with it.

Like it or not, the coppers do monitor this site. Some to gather intelligence about the community and growing in general, and some in the hope that some dumb-ass will entrap himself.

So you will forgive me if I smell bacon frying from time to time.

im not trying to say that its not suspicious, it might be but the number of posts means nothing. ive had a diff. account other than this one before my old email got hacked so ive really been a member on this site since mid 2008 and 75% of my posts in 2 years where in the last month. obviously he is in it for the money, and seems very greedy from the start but i dont think anyone would have to worry about it. how is it gonna hurt someone else if they give advice on whether a certain amount of lights would cause suspicion? it WONT. thats all im saying.

Does the electricity cycle raise a red flag? If I'm running lights on a timer, then that means the lights are coming on and off at the same exact time everyday. Does the electric company notice a pattern like this?

I searched the site for an answer to this question but couldn't find it.
