How many seeds for one lb

Georgey boy, don't be so defensive. You just can't come here expecting answers from people who just grow as a hobby. It's their choice whether they want to respond or not. We get many a people demanding answers just cause there are growers here. That's not how it works. But since you got reemed a new one, for really no reason, and I kind of started it I will answer your question.

You need to first germinate your seeds. Possibly through paper towel method. Take a paper towel moisten it, place seeds on moisten paper towel. Fold, moisten once again. You don't want a soaked paper towel just moist. Place in zip lock over 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Check back every 24 hours untill you see a white root cracked from seed. Once this root is substantially large, not huuuuuuuuge, you'll want to place it in your soil / hydro medium. This one seed will grow into a plant. Amateur growers can hope for 14g (14 grams) a plant with your basic growing supplies. Cfls, whatever. You figure 2-4 plants equals about an ounce for someone who is a true beginner. 16 ounces in a lb, 28 g's in an oz. You can do the math. If you don't know what the hell your doing, you'll never produce an ounce a plant, unless your jesus christ himself (with cfls especially). There are so many variables it's really not even funny. Your looking at anywhere between 16-50+ plants depending on how well you grow, and what you grow with.

So basically since he may be getting the hydro hut with 16 pots this will mean he will need 16 seeds, one seed each pot and if done correctly we could grab a half a pound 8 oz's from each grow of 16 pots saying that if we only get half of a oz from each pot, but if we get lucky which is rare we will get a oz from each plant which will give us a entire pound of 16 right? Thanks

don't know how many seeds it takes to make a lbs of seeds. it only takes 1 seed to start 1 plant der:roll:

16 seeds in theory, but in reality, you're prob gonna need about 30. you have to allow for a few seeds that wont germinate and the percentage of males. 30 seeds, you should get around 16 females, give or take depending on your luck. with 16 females of the right strain, as long as you follow advice and do your research, you should get close to a pound

I'm a newbie too. But you will find the GrowFAQ section your best friend. Ive read almost all the sections there. Some are articles are contridicting to others, so you will have to decide which things work best for you. But the way I see it, there is no "wrong" way they tell you to do things. It's just a matter of "your" way.

It takes one seed for one plant. I have read other posts from expert growers that say their yeild is 1-3.5 oz per plant. That's a wide margin I know in terms of yeild, but let's say for your first grow you yielded half the low end of that. Which would be .5 oz per plant. Thats 32 plants for a pound. Who knows you might surprise yourself and yield more. But like that article talks about, it all depends on your setup. More light more yield seems to be a rule of thumb (along with other variants). And you also might flop the whole project if you dont get to reading your shit!

I wouldn't say it's rare (getting an oz from a plant).. But if you don't know what the fuck your doing you'll probably mess up a couple times. You might never mess up and have great success. But your still going to get male plants. No matter how good you take care of them. You will possibly run into other problems as well. If you have 16 seeds, all germinate, all female and yield an oz a plant your first grow. You are the man. But I'd bet the balance of my savings account, my car, and my house against it.

I was referring to more experienced growers..... weren't you with an estimation of 16 plants and not talking about the guy that asked how many seeds does it take to make a plant? :roll:

hello george, here's an idea for you; it is something i am doing starting tommorow. had my wife buy me one of those 72 plug jiffy pellet seed starter tray from walmart. planting all 72 of them tommorow with bagseed i have been saving from smokin mids. many wont germinate and i also plan to kill off the weakest ones when it comes time to put them into pots, cause i dont have room for that many plants. i estimate i'll have about 30-40 left, flower when they are a foot tall and kill the males on sight. should be left with between 15-20 females that will finish at about 18"-3ft tall and yield around 1/2-1oz apiece. all this is assuming you have 72 seeds... just an idea

Once you get a successful female plant, then you can venture into the world of cloning and not have to worry about the whole seed issue. -- Not to muddy the issue, or give you too many things to think about at once, but consider doing some research on cloning because it really ensures you can control the number/sex of plants you have on the go.
Good luck with the fancy grow box! I wish I had the means to start off that way!
