after the first harvest i would rip off the top and make a retactable dome, greenhouse for summer months and lights for the cooler months. & def look into wind turbine & solar power to really bank the profit margin.

Let's say you've got 50,000 square feet - each 1,000 watt light is going to cover maybe 25 square feet each - you're going to need 2,000 lights - that's 2,000,000 watts alone - plus the extra wattage the ballast consumes plus pumps, fans, etc etc etc - how come it's so hard for most in this thread to really grasp the concept of how BIG this operation would be........and that's just going with one layer of flat gardening. If you're going to go up and do multiple levels or stacked rotary gardens, those figures would skyrocket.

Cost per kilowatt in the bay area is around $0.239 - that's $239 per megawatt (million watts) - if you're running just that lowball figure of 2 megawatts, you're looking at $239 per hour at least 12 hours per day - that's $2,868 per day, that's $86,040 per 30 days, that's $1,046,820 a year - and that's on the low, low, low side. Realistically speaking, you're really looking somewhere in the neighborhood of spending $3,000,000 a year just for electricity. That doesn't include rent or property taxes, supplies, personnel, etc etc etc - this would be an ENORMOUS operation if done efficiently.

yes dinobelly, is right pge will kill you i think he is on the low end but solar will work period a 20k system is 20,000 watt at 1.70 a watt panel cost [ i think you can get 1.50 a watt]34,000.00 add control charger, etc. minus 30%federal rebate three year federal tax depretion it will work less $$$ buy property with running water

Sorry to hijack the thread here, but am I the only one who is both angry and scared about 50,000 sqft grows? Growers should be ma and pop not massive corporations. If corporations start opening up massive grow ops like this, the pot industry will become like the tobacco industry in no time.

heheheheh i dont know what you are smoking have you any idea how much work that is ?? co2 generators drip irrigation suspended ventilation ,humidifiers ,temp controls ect ect .. and it means employing people and people talk and and partners suck and wiv all those lights that place is going to light up like a light house on the dutch coast.... i av been there getting all the ladies to cooperate is a mission on its own believe me its like they have minds of their own ... 1 or 2 males you fucked den your worst nightmare hermaphroditism .... have you decided what you will do with the tons of vegie after debudding anyhows i am sure the amount of weed you are allowed to cultivate, if made legal ,will be seriously regulated so i dont think you will need that 5000 sq/f but never the less iam sure after a good toke u av considered all ...and all i av to add is ...."say wot wot all the luck old chap!!"

Go to a commercial real estate broker and ask to see something that's around 50,000 square feet in a warehouse setup - just a big open space.....then you might just grasp how big of an operation you're talking about.
