How many branches should I trim off the plants?

How much of my plants should I trim off when I flip them?

3 gallon pots, 1 per sq ft. 16 per 1kw light.

I have vegged for 2 weeks and plan on flipping the plants on wed.

I have read that I should trim off the lower branches, but I'm not sure how much of them I should trim.

Take a look and tell me what you think.

you don't need to cut off anything - might want to consider topping them before going to 12/12 though.

If I top them I'll lose the top cola, and in its stead I'll get a couple smaller ones...right?

I use the FIM technique and top once. I usually end up with 4 extra sprouts on top - here's a pic a few days before switching to 12/12 (about a month old i think with a 12" ruler for scale)

So it looks like there is some conflicting info as to when I should perform the topping. It's my plan to flip these to 12/12 on wed. If I top them all tonight should I wait longer than wed?

oh yeah - if you plan on starting flowering on Wednesday, then i'd wait for the next batch to top. After topping you should wait to switch to 12/12 until the new nodes (usually 2 - 4) establish themselves (like a week or two).

I guess it depends on why you're switching to 12/12. If you have to due to size constraints or you want a faster turn-around time - then you gotta do what you gotta do.

So what would be the final verdict? I could flip in 2 days and roll with or FIM it and wait a bit. Multiple opinions are welcome. I want to maximize my yield here.

Thanks!

P.S. The main reason I planned on switching was because I didnt want to end up with too much excess veg

LOl yea I thought I was seeing some mirror images in that first picture but nope......just a shitload of buckets! Looks like you will be having a fun time once you harvest.
Gonna be a lot of work but will be well worth it.

Top em and flower em in a week

hey man by the way do not trim them at all. just my advice. dont take anything off unless its not green anymore besides that and considering u got them 1 pot per sq foot u need not trim.

if anything u can increase your air circulation going threw the bottom of the canopy to make sure u have good airflow without trimmin, i figure if the plant put the leaves there it was probably for a good reason. so i wouldnt mess with her like that cuz might try to buck
