:leaf::leaf::leaf:I have seen a few post on here saying not to veg your plants to long as they will become harder to cover completly with just CFL's... So my question is How long should one Veg for... Im shure it also depends on your grow setup,Strain, watts, space etc... But can anyone give me a defenitive answer on how long in there own experience? 3weeks? 4-5 weeks? No more then 6? any ideas? Thx :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

alot depends on how tall the plants get and how many cfl's you have to cover the area. i think usually by around week 3 or 4 after the seeds pop i put them under a 400w MH. maybe a little sooner but just depends on how many plants i have and how big they are.

All depends on your set up as a whole and what size space your dealing with... Basically veg them to a 1/3 or 1/2 the size you want them to end up and then flip to 12/12. But don't go trying to grow 4/5ft plants under CFL's just won't work. I wouldn't have a cfl grow over 1 or 1.5ft high all in all at the end. Just my opinion anyway :)

Thx for your help... Im gonna upload some pix in a min but there really only like 2 weeks old i just saw some post about not letting them grow to long cause you just cant get enough light to them... Say i went to my local hydroponics store and purchesed there 600w (HID)MH set up... How tall you think i should let them get then... the closet is about 2ft wide and 3 ft deep with an 8ft ceiling... any ideas?:leaf:

I would say stick to your CFL's for Veg then buy a 600w hps for flower if your gonna get anything. Then veg to about 2ft foot (maybe only a 1ft of it with the CFL then the other with the HPS) then flip em and get 4/5ft plants all day long :) gotta allow couple feet for your light really. You will get feel for it when the area kitted out and when you see it a fraction of the size you want then flip it. Hope this helps. Get pics up also.

if you do go for 600w you will need to think about ventilation also and the floor space maybe 2 plants give or take.

I'm sorry if you've already seen this, I seem to be spamming it all over recently. Flower small! They stretch and you really want to keep them small to maintain proper coverage. These started 12/12 after a 2 week veg period but I could have likely but that back by about a week and had the same results.

I was pulling an oz a week with 388w of CFL here - First CFL Grow - Help appreciated

I would recommend a 3:1 of 6500K:2700K for veg and the opposite for flower.

Keep them small! CFLs don't do nearly as well with large plants unless you keep a clean scrog or LST. I started flowering at this size -

Dropping bulb between plants maximizes plant absorption without the loss of restrike like you would have with a reflector. I tried to cover the canopy in smaller bulbs and submerge larger bulbs between plants.

I would yield ~ 1oz per plant. With 6 in full flower at a time and two others just rotating into the flower box I was able to harvest a plant per week.

Hey man you should check out 12/12 from seed. Especially with CFLs. From the day you germinate put her in the flower room. She will still veg for about 3 weeks or so before she shows signs of preflower. Its a good way to keep them small too if you have limited vertical height or you are using CFLs. I'm doing one right now with CFLs that is almost 4 weeks old and she is just starting to get flowers. She has 0 stretch between nodes and is about 5 inches tall with 6 nodes working on 7. Check out del's thread: https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/416589-12-12-seed-thread.html

My friend that many plants need atleast another 8 MINIMUM! of them bulbs in there. And scrap the foil shit you will burn them. There all looking fairly stretched with exception of a couple thats because not enough light. Basically want one them bulbs per baby be nice! For now at least.
I currently have them under 2x 27watt 6500k CFl's

get more CFLs. If you are going to use the 27w ones then plan on using atleast 4 per plant once they are bigger. And get them closer to the tops of your plants there. you are getting alot of stretch it looks like. Those CFLs wont burn them. I got a 42w CFL like an inch on top of mine and havent had it burn ever. Also if you want to keep them smaller for better CFL coverage switch to 2700k lights and put em on 12/12. I'm tellin ya. did you check out del's thread? pretty good looking closet tho. lots of potential. what strains you running?

if you dont have the means of hooking up more lights then go to home depot and grab some of the "y" light bulb socket splitters and make yourself a nifty little chandelure type deal

there is no such thing as too early for flower. you can flower from seed. thats what I was tellin you. the only point of vegging is to get it bigger and beefier. Which is always good, but if you planned on using CFLs the whole grow then you would want to keep it smaller. You say you are gonna use a HPS for flower then you can veg as long as you want. If you keep the lights on 24/0 it will never flower and you can grow it to its full potential. I have never used HPS so idk if that would be enough for all them plants but I would imagine it would be good for however many plants you can fit into that closet. keep in mind they triple in size sometimes once you switch to flower from veg. I am a noob. I am only on my second grow and my first I had to chop 6 weeks early. So dont take my advice to heart, just sharing whatever knowledge i have picked up along the way. My first grow I vegged for a month then flowered and they tripled in size and got too tall for my room and I had to tie them down. This time around I did 12/12 from seed. You should really sheck out del's thread if you havent yet: https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/416589-12-12-seed-thread.html
