just a warning: you seem like ur interest is more in the leaves. ur not harvesting the leaves, ur harvesting the buds1 if the bud looks like its time to harvest... harvest it regardless the quality of the leaves! if you have healthy leaves when its time to harvest that means you just got good genetics and took good care of them!

if you let the orange hairs curl back into the bud that means the plants thc has turned to cbd! then next step after this is decay if it hasnt started already...

from the looks of it ( im not there to tell you for sure but) from what i see i would crop the kush like now and give nl a week tops! plus you dont want to go more then about 7-10 days with straight water. I did an experiment with that and the bud was surprizingly less dense in the end.

If this is one of your first grows i would crop. better safe then sorry and down the line you could experiment alittle and get more experiance behind u!
okay, that sounds like the best advice I've gotten yet my friend. My instincts are telling me that the two kush plants I have are begging to be harvested. I am getting a scope tomorrow, so I will be able to confirm that the trichs are where I want them to be too, but I have a feeling that they're ripe, and have been for a solid 5 days now. So I think I'll harvest tomorrow. Thanks for looking and giving me the heads up. I've been so afraid of harvesting early because that's what most inexperienced growers do, but it would be almost worse to let them get overripe! Finally, how important is it to harvest during the night cycle? Seems this would be unlikely outside, right? If my scope comes tomorrow and I see the trichs are as amber as I suspect they are, can I just begin harvesting right away or should I wait until the early morning hours before the light switches back on?

i always harvest at 2 separate times...meaning i determine the intentions of my bud first then i crop. alot of ppl disagree with me and say time doesnt matter, but its worked out for me so i do it.

when i want to clone (now is to late for you... this clipping is done the day before the flowering cycle starts) clip early morning like 3 or 4 hrs before light comes back. when i clip to throw back into veg(i did once for the hell of it, wouldnt recommend it. i takes forever and is not really worth it the second crop around) i harvest about 2 hrs before lights off. and when i just crop plant for kill, hash, shack, and hemp, i do it when ever i feel like it bc the plants gonna die anyways;-).

How many days you got into them now? i'm still working the aurora and today is day 70. 2 of the 7 have finished but a couple aren't really that close. i think those 2 could probably go 12 weeks easy but i may take thm sooner as i want 1 more grow before it gets to hot in my grow room in summer. i find that when they are ready the whole bud has an amber tint and gets icy looking.

Let's see... right now I'm nine weeks, two days into flowering, so about 65 days in. I have looked at Zeus's post many times, and it's still hard to tell with my Kush plants. I'm sure my NL isn't done yet, probably up to 2 more wks. The kush are harder to tell because the buds look done, the hairs are red and withered, but it's hard to see a lot of trichomes on the leaves and I can't determine how many amber trichomes there are. I cut off a small section and am drying it, and I'll probably pull the rest down in a couple more days when this section has dried out. Thanks for lookin!

best way to tell in that case is sample a small bud to see what you think.
yeah good call, I actually did that. I pulled off one pretty big bud from the kush and one small one from the NL. I can tell from the way they're drying up that the Kush is ready and that the NL is not. The kush has a much tighter formation and is actually extremely dense. The NL looks amazing but is still really fluffy so I think I'll leave it for a week or so. It's easier to see the trich's on the buds once they're not on the plant too, if only because they're easier to keep still. I can see lots of amber on the kush, but only patches of it here and there on the NL, mostly clear and cloudy so I'll def give it 7-10 days before I cut any more. thanks for all the help folks, and I'll be sure to post pics when it's all dried and ready to go into the jars!

tweezers are your best friend now. pull a small clump from a bud with them and view it on a table rather than tring to view the whole bud on the plant.
