If you have had or can get an MRI done that shows a herniated disc, then you can make a case for chronic pain. All you have to do is get your medical records, medical images, etc. and take it to a doctor who isn't ideologically opposed to the medicinal use of cannabis. The doctor's OK is the major hurdle you need to clear, unless the medical office itself is in trouble with the State (See: 11th State Consultations, Fall 2012). Then your RI Dept. of Health new patient form signed by you and the doc is mailed in, processed, and a decision will come back to you in the mail. Then you go to the State Offices and get your ID card printed.

You don't have to say anything (that "it works") to persuade anybody at the State to help you out, and they wouldn't anyway.

Canna care docs in Massachusetts are helpful And understanding doctors. They advertise on Craigslist. You need minimal records but you would only qualify with the disc and cronic pain. Your other conditions are do not qualify in RI. Look up RIPAC they have a lot of information and links to the laws.

It's best to be honest w/ your doctor. General rule is "If it does more good than harm, it's okay." Also if you say you've been smoking regularly with positive results (say vaporizing if you don't smoke cigs) the simple desire not to be prosecuted is often enough for a doctor to sign your sheet. Just don't bullshit them; they're smarter than you; unless you've also got a PhD. GL

I guess so WOW! They are very nice people there... At least they were when I went. Hopefully they are in business for a long time so when I need my renewal I can go back.

I went the 1st day it opened up in boston lol... it was kinda sketchy and doctor was nervous you could tell. They are making some serious money im sure with all those locations. Hes doing a good thing IMO. I also think however that when RI DOH sees the app. From them they take longer on paperwork. Just seems that way. 11th state and b and b were really quick turn around times for paperwork at DOH

Yea it was kinda sketchy when I went last April also... The people working there was really nice though! I'm sure the DOH is paying close attention to them by now. My paperwork went through relatively fast though ( about a week after I sent it ). I tried to book an appt with b&b prior to canna care but they took over a month to get back to me and could tell they were more strict. Canna seems to be the ones who are writing a majority of recommendations for RI patients I hope it doesn't cause them problems. Unfortunately I was laid off prior to getting my license so I've been unable to afford meds like I would have previous. It's frustrating!
